Job Description

Project Manager (MEP, HVAC)Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager specializing in MEP and HVAC to lead commercial construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning. The role requires ownership of schedule, budget, quality and safety while coordinating mechanical, electrical and plumbing trades, overseeing HVAC systems and controls, and interfacing with clients, designers and subcontractors. The ideal candidate combines technical knowledge of HVAC controls, BAS and MEP systems with proven construction project management skills to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead full project lifecycle for commercial
MEP/HVAC
projects including planning, procurement, execution and closeout.

Develop, maintain and drive project schedules, budgets and cash flow forecasts; monitor performance and implement corrective actions.

Coordinate design review and constructability input with engineers, architects and internal teams to ensure MEP integration and efficient sequencing.

Manage subcontractor selection, scopes, contracts and performance; oversee site supervision and subcontractor coordination across electrical, mechanical, plumbing and controls trades.

Oversee installation, testing, balancing, commissioning and startup of HVAC systems and building automation systems (BAS); ensure HVAC controls are properly integrated and documented.

Review and approve shop drawings, submittals, RFIs and change orders; maintain accurate project documentation and client communications.

Implement and enforce quality assurance/quality control procedures and ensure compliance with project specifications, codes (including
ASHRAE, NEC
) and industry standards.

Drive safety culture on job sites; ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards and conduct regular safety audits.

Identify, assess and mitigate project risks; proactively resolve issues to minimize schedule and cost impacts.

Prepare and present regular project reports to clients and senior management, including progress, budget status and forecast.

Support commissioning, turnover and closeout activities including O&M manuals, training sessions for facilities staff and warranty follow-up.

Mentor and coordinate project engineers and site supervision staff to promote efficient execution and professional development.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field, or equivalent experience.5+ years of progressive project management experience in
MEP/HVAC
within commercial construction; demonstrated experience managing medium to large projects.

Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, HVAC controls, building automation systems (BAS), electrical and plumbing systems.

Proven experience with commissioning and startup of HVAC systems and integration of BAS.Familiarity with codes and standards (ASHRAE, NEC, local building codes) and quality control processes.

Experience with project management and construction software (MS Project, Procore, BIM/Revit preferred).Excellent leadership, communication and client-facing skills; ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and negotiate with subcontractors.

Demonstrated cost management skills including budgeting, forecasting and change order administration.

Relevant certifications preferred: PMP, PE, LEED, NICET or HVAC controls certifications; OSHA 30 or equivalent safety training.

Valid drivers license and ability to travel regularly to job sites; willingness to work in field and office environments.
