Job Description

at Farnsworth Group in Normal, Illinois, United States Job Description Farnsworth Group is seeking a Surveying Project Manager in the posting locations below. A surveying project manager is licensed professional surveyor that is responsible for the management of a single large project or multiple small projects. They assist in the development of the project scope and fee and are involved in overseeing the proposed schedule, budget, performance, quality control, project deliverables, and client business development initiatives.

Normal, and Peoria, IL What You'll Do:
Mentor staff on the correct use of CAD platforms and other technology in the preparation of deliverables including plats, ALTAs, as-builts, exhibits, and legal descriptions. Utilize CAD & Trimble platforms daily in the production of drawings of varying complexity. Assist in the development of contracts, scopes, fees, schedules, and marketing strategies. Assign, assess, and review work of team members relative to specified metrics. Delegate and supervise surveying work assigned to staff throughout the course of a project. Serve as the project representative during client meetings & engagements. Review invoices with accounting managers monthly and sends to clients. Actively participate in business development efforts and client management. Follow company surveying policies and procedures (industry best practices).
What You'll Need:
Valid U.S. driver's License and a good driving record Bachelor's or Associate's Degree / Land Surveying approved classes certificate Ability to operate in a mentor / mentee team atmosphere Ability to understand and utilize current & new technology Safety-oriented mindset Excellent communication skills Positive and collaborative work ethic Experience with MS Office products (Word & Excel) Professional Land Surveyor's License required (PLS, RLS, LS) Experience with Trimble equipment, Trimble Business Center, ACAD C3
D/MicroStation ORD Nice To Haves:
Desire to sit for Professional Land Surveyor's exam in neighboring states. 4+ years surveying experience (1 year as a licensed professional surveyor) Experience with Aerial Drone and 3D Point Cloud scanning technology. Understanding of surveying control networks, the PLSS system, and QA/QC procedures. Experience supervising, managing and training field & office technicians.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Primarily an office position; need the ability to work outside on projects if needed. Requires the ability to work on multi-discipline projects simultaneously. Ability to use a computer and work in an office environment. Makes suggestions & undertakes company mandated training to increase skill and ability. Comfortable signing drawings & serving in responsible charge of projects.
