The Manager, Special Projects Group is responsible for overseeing the execution and implementation of the department's projects aligned with organizational strategic goals and department initiatives. The Special Projects Supervisor participates in the design, development, construction, and testing of equipment for the Gateways. The Special Projects Supervisor reports directly to the Director. Supervisory Responsibilities:
Recruit, interview, hire, and train direct reports
Oversee the work and assignments of direct reports
Provide constructive and timely performance feedback
Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy Duties/Responsibilities:
Manage programs and program modifications from initiation through delivery and evaluation phases.
Actively lead the planning process, project stages and participants engagement throughout the implementation.
Use Quality Improvement methodologies, tools, and approaches in programs and initiatives.
Exercise independent judgment when developing workplans and communications.
Solicit required data, statistics and reports for analysis and to facilitate effective service monitoring and performance.
Act as the business unit liaison to corporate initiatives and projects.
Effectively communicate project statuses using tools such as Microsoft Office, Power Point, and Visio.
Provide guidance and leadership to multi-disciplinary project team to deliver high quality, cost effective, improvement-oriented results.
Serve as a backup for the major Workforce Supervisor's duties.
Interface with Gateway Managers to solve problems quickly.
Performs other duties as appropriate. Skills and Competencies:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact clearly and concisely with all departments and levels of management
Excellent organizational skills with attention-to-detail
Ability to meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Familiarity with NetSuite
Self-starter, with strong sense of ownership and assertive follow-through
Innovative, solutions-oriented professional with strong problem-solving skills
Ability to motivate and lead teams to achieve objectives and service levels to the highest standards
Excellent planning and decision-making skills Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications:
Bachelor of Science degree OR
A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Electronics industry
Familiarity with the usage of electronic test equipment and the ability to train others
RF experience a must
Soldering skills and the ability to inspect the work of others
Globalstar Gateway familiarity a plus Physical Requirements:
Willingness and ability to travel as needed
Willingness and ability to work after regularly scheduled hours as needed
Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods working on a computer (4 to 8 hours)
Ability to operate the equipment used for the job
Ability to lift 15 pounds at times
