Job Description

The Personnel Consulting Group is searching for a skilled project manager for a family-owned client that has built a legacy of infrastructure excellence in the Greater New Orleans area. Our client combines generations of local expertise with cutting-edge capabilities to execute vital civil, roadway, and utility infrastructure projects.
The Role:
Civil Project Manager (60-70% Field-Based) Are you a hands-on civil builder who thrives on the active progress of a job site rather than sitting behind a corporate desk all day? We are looking for an energetic, field-focused Civil Project Manager to lead our high-profile infrastructure projects. This role requires a strong split of capabilities, spending 60% to 70% of your time in the field managing concrete roadway paving and deep underground utility installations (water, sewer, drainage). You will be the vital link between our engineering plans, field crews, and municipal stakeholders, ensuring jobs are delivered safely, efficiently, and built to last.
Key Responsibilities On-Site Execution:
Spend the majority of your week in the field directing operations, inspecting site progress, and solving technical layout or excavation challenges in real time.
Project Oversight:
Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of heavy civil projects, focusing specifically on municipal concrete paving and complex underground utility systems.
Scheduling & Logistics:
Oversee resource allocation, heavy equipment logistics, material deliveries, and manpower scheduling to stay ahead of tight production schedules.
Safety & Quality Control:
Collaborate directly with field superintendents and subcontractors to ensure strict compliance with OSHA safety standards and project specifications.
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the frontline representative in progress meetings with city engineers, utility authorities, and clients.
Qualifications & Requirements Proven Civil Background:
3+ years of project management experience in heavy civil construction, with dedicated exposure to municipal concrete roadways and underground wet utilities.
Field-First Mindset:
A genuine passion for active field operations and the stamina to handle the demands of a Southeast Louisiana job site environment.
Technical Proficiency:
Strong capability in reading civil blueprints, managing submittals/RFIs, tracking project costs, and utilizing scheduling software. Louisiana Roots (Preferred): Familiarity with local soil conditions, regional drainage complexities, and Louisiana municipal construction specifications is a major plus.
Leadership Capability:
A proactive communicator who commands respect in the dirt, works collaboratively with field crews, and resolves conflicts swiftly.
What We Offer Competitive Pay:
$85,000 to $110,000 base salary (depending on experience).
Stability & Legacy:
The opportunity to build a career with an established, family-owned industry pillar holding deep roots in the New Orleans community.
Professional Growth:
Direct exposure to challenging, high-impact municipal infrastructure builds with a tight-knit, supportive leadership team.
