Facility Services Responsibility / Duty Monitor, direct, and evaluate day-to-day operations of new construction and renovation projects. Includes reviewing the work of skilled and semi-skilled personnel on all projects involving the physical plant.
Percentage Of Time:
30 Responsibility / Duty Supervise, evaluate, and report the performance of private sector contractors that provide construction services for the university. Attend and participate in meetings as required with administrative university representatives along with representatives in private industry including mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, and other contracted personnel regarding construction, renovation, and major repair projects.
Percentage Of Time:
20 Responsibility / Duty Assist with the design of projects from the pre-design conference through the production of construction documents. Assist with the approval of designer work and provide authorization to proceed with each phase of work on all construction projects. Oversee and participate in document preparation, negotiation on contracts, processing documents, and all other required procedures and activities on all construction projects.
Percentage Of Time:
15 Responsibility / Duty Assist in directing, reviewing and approving plans for development projects, renovations and major repair activities, including work done by architectural, engineering, landscape, and planning consultants as well as repair projects done in-house by craftsman and technicians. Confer with and advise the Chief Facilities Officer concerning budget development and planning for capital outlay projects. Evaluate the needs of the university and determine requirements for space in existing buildings and new construction.
Percentage Of Time:
10 Responsibility / Duty Ensure that the designer enforces compliance with construction documents, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Verify responses of designers and contractors to unknown conditions during construction, renovation and major repair projects and approve proper action. Verify and approve the need for changes in the contracts including changes to the scope of work, cost, fees and scheduling. Negotiate and prepare appropriate change orders.

10 Responsibility / Duty All other work assigned by the Chief Facilities Officer.
Percentage Of Time:
5 Responsibility / Duty Develop, promote, and maintain good public relations with designers, public officials, contractors, state and federal agency personnel, land consultants, and other professionals.
Percentage Of Time:
5 Responsibility / Duty Work with and direct professionals to insure compliance with all applicable governing standards related to construction projects and repair activities, which include but not limited to ADA, EPA, OSHA, Life Safety Code, ASHRAE, and Standard Building codes.

5 Minimum Experience Required Ten (10) years of experience in construction with baccalaureate degree in engineering. or related field or twenty (20) years of experience in construction.
