Project management responsibilities may include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. The Project Manager will oversee all aspects of projects, set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of projects. Prepare reports for upper management regarding the status of projects and adhere to other company guidelines and processes. In some cases, this employee will work directly with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible and identify risks and resource needs to the upper management team. The role is critical to facilitating deadlines and adoption, implementation and maintenance of Hybrid Agile Project management processes, principles, and practices in a product engineering environment for successful completion of projects. The project manager will work closely with multiple teams (both technical and non-technical) across the organization during the planning and execution phases. This position will interact with multiple managers across teams in a technical product development environment. The primary responsibility will be to create project schedules, status reviews, updates, and tracking on a weekly basis. In addition, with each defined sprint, tasks will be assigned to various team members and estimates for each task assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
Utilizes and effectively communicates technical components of an initiative to applicable parties. Ability to lead a cross-functional team while motivating team members to their highest potential. Requires excellent oral and written communication skills as well as business presentation skills. Serves as scrum master for two or more technical product development teams. Manages stand up meetings on a daily/weekly basis as needed. Facilitates discussions of complex, high value Products and their individual components to successful delivery of projects, and schedule additional meetings as needed. Plan upcoming work in a backlog with team leads and PM team: Prioritize and plan your team's work on the backlog. Break down work from the project roadmap, and order work tasks so your team knows what to deliver first and the priorities are clearly identified to reach the overall project deadlines. Organize cycles of work into sprints: Use sprints to drive incremental delivery, allow your team to ship high-quality work and deliver value faster. Understand your team's velocity and capacity: Improve predictability on planning and delivery with out-of-the-box reports, including the sprint report and velocity chart. Use the internal Kanban (Zenhub) to organize and track the tasks at hand with teams and stakeholders. Works closely with teams to identify and act on opportunities for improvement. Works closely with product owners, project managers and other team members to ensure vision, roadmaps and personas are well defined and dependencies are understood. The sprints are in direct alignment with product deliverables as outlined in the overall project schedules. Proactively identifies impediments and works to remove them by communicating with team members, stakeholders, or leadership, escalating if required. If risks are identified or issues are communicated to the Sr. Management Team to work out a resolution quickly. Skills in estimating work effort of various tasks with team members. Ability to write Epics, user stories and breakdown stories further into tasks with accurate estimates for planning purposes. Ability to generate Project Schedules with Primavera P6, MS project or Smartsheets.
Job Requirements:
Working knowledge of Zenhub or similar Kanban Experience working in an Engineering environment for Hardware and Software Current expertise conducting standup meetings and working with engineering teams to create Zenhub issues, estimates and progress as they move to completion. Strong project planning skills Critical thinking and problem solving skills. Exceptional communication skills including influencing and leading others. Collaboration skills and abilities. Strong organizational and time management skills
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (BS or BA) in engineering or related field 10 Years of experience in Engineering and technical program/project management. Experience with quality standards like ISO 900, a plus. Current Scrum Master Certification preferred. At least 5+ years as a practicing Scrum Master At least 5 years of experience in a role as project manager Role and Responsibility This position will report primarily to the VP of Transportation Systems and interact with multiple managers across technical delivery and services teams.
