Job Description
About MCE Dirtworks, Inc. MCE Dirtworks, Inc. is a Cape Cod-based heavy construction and paving company serving residential, commercial, municipal, and public-sector clients. Our work includes asphalt paving, excavation, drainage, site work, utility-related work, and related infrastructure projects throughout Cape Cod. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to help coordinate projects from planning through completion. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands construction operations, communicates effectively with field crews, customers, and back-office staff, and can manage multiple projects at different stages. This role is well suited for someone who takes a data-informed approach to project management. The Project Manager should be comfortable using schedules, job cost information, production tracking, quantities, tickets, billing status, and project documentation to manage work proactively, communicate clearly, and identify issues early. Candidates with prior experience as a Working Foreman, Site Superintendent, Assistant Project Manager, or Operations Coordinator are encouraged to apply, especially if they are ready to move into a broader project management role. Key Responsibilities
- Manage assigned paving, excavation, drainage, and site work projects from planning through completion.
- Coordinate daily and weekly project schedules, task assignments, manpower needs, equipment needs, materials, subcontractors, and vendor coordination with ownership, field supervisors, foremen, and crews.
- Review project scopes, estimates, contracts, drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
- Monitor project progress, productivity, job costs, schedule performance, risks, delays, and required decisions.
- Coordinate with customers, municipal representatives, engineers, inspectors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal team members.
- Support change order identification, documentation, pricing, and submission.
- Assist with pay requisitions, progress billing, retainage, and project closeout documentation.
- Help resolve field issues related to scope, schedule, materials, manpower, equipment utilization, weather, safety, quality, and site conditions.
- Support field supervisors and foremen in reinforcing company standards, safety expectations, quality requirements, and proper jobsite procedures.
- Maintain organized project files, including contracts, change orders, correspondence, permits, plans, submittals, tickets, and billing documentation. - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
- 3-5+ years of experience in heavy construction, paving, excavation, site work, civil construction, or a related field.
- Prior experience as a Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Site Superintendent, Working Foreman, Estimator, or Operations Coordinator preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, field operations, equipment coordination, materials, subcontractor management, and jobsite execution.
- Experience with asphalt paving, excavation, drainage, utility work, grading, site preparation, municipal/public work, or prevailing wage projects is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, scopes of work, and project documents.
- Strong communication and reporting skills with customers, field crews, vendors, subcontractors, inspectors, ownership, and office staff.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced seasonal construction environment.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, PDFs, project tracking tools, and construction-related software; experience with project scheduling, construction management, estimating, bid, or job costing software is preferred.
- Experience with Trimble Business Center, GPS, FieldPulse, QuickBooks Online, or similar construction operations/accounting systems is a plus.
- Valid driver's license required.
OSHA 10, OSHA
30, Hoisting License, Construction Supervisor License, or other relevant certifications are a plus.Pay:
