Large-scale construction projects Utility infrastructure projects Substations Transmission systems Renewable energy projects (solar, wind, energy storage) Infrastructure upgrades Overhead (OH) distribution systems Power lines and electrical infrastructure Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Capital Project Manager to lead the design, construction, commissioning, and closeout of renewable energy capital projects. This role will oversee intermediate to large-scale projects, including solar, wind, and energy storage initiatives, while collaborating with internal teams, contractors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders. The successful candidate will utilize formal project management methodologies to manage project scope, schedules, budgets, engineering activities, procurement, construction execution, and project closeout. This is an individual contributor role with opportunities to mentor junior project managers and project engineers. Key Responsibilities Develop project scope and coordinate multidisciplinary teams responsible for scheduling, cost estimating, engineering, and project execution. Manage all phases of renewable energy projects, including engineering, design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and project closeout. Oversee project budgets, expenditures, and change management processes to ensure successful project delivery. Support daily on-site construction activities and coordinate contractors and service providers to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Drive achievement of key project performance metrics related to scope, schedule, quality, and cost. Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, providing status updates and facilitating decision-making. Coordinate with internal departments, power plants, suppliers, contractors, labor organizations, and regulatory agencies. Support contract administration activities, including supplier evaluations, bid reviews, and procurement strategies. Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Obtain and manage required regulatory approvals for renewable energy projects. Mentor and train junior project managers, project engineers, and co-op students. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following combinations of education and experience: Option 1 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related field 6+ years of project management experience 2+ years managing large-scale construction or utility projects 6+ months of renewable energy project experience (solar, wind, or energy storage) Option 2 Associate degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Architecture, Technical Design, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or related field 8+ years of project management experience 2+ years managing large-scale construction or utility projects 6+ months of renewable energy project experience Option 3 High School Diploma or equivalent 10+ years of project management experience 2+ years managing large-scale construction or utility projects 6+ months of renewable energy project experience Preferred Qualifications Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Renewable energy industry experience Utility industry experience Large-scale construction project experience Experience managing substations, transmission, or distribution infrastructure projects
