Overview The Opportunity As Project Technology Specialist (PTS), you will support and advance technology adoption across the Walbridge enterprise. This role will contribute to the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of construction technologies that enhance project delivery, operational efficiency, and innovation. On large, complex projects, you'll embed with the team early-pursuit through preconstruction, mobilization, and early execution-to help launch both new and existing technologies. You'll lead hands-on deployment and training, optimize performance in the field, and complete a structured handoff to project or operations team members for long-term ownership. In this tactical role, you'll be required to roll up your sleeves, translate goals into practical solutions, influence adoption, and partner with Walbridge teammates, customers, and vendors to deliver measurable value. You will also bring the perspective from the field back to the corporate office to influence future strategy around technology. As a Walbridge Technology Ambassador, you'll represent our team at industry events and conferences-building relationships, sharing best practices, and strengthening Walbridge's reputation for construction technology leadership. Location You will work from our enterprise Headquarters in Detroit, MI and travel to project job sites across the US Responsibilities Your key responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Planning:
Support alignment of technology initiatives with business strategy and field needs, including evaluation of emerging trends, competitive positioning, and customer needs
Innovation & Implementation:
Drive the adoption of construction technologies across the organization, supporting planning, scoping, and execution of initiatives
Project & Program Support:
Coordinate and manage technology initiatives using structured project management methodologies to ensure successful delivery
Training & Enablement:
Develop and deliver training programs, including hands-on sessions and Lunch & Learns, to maximize technology adoption and effectiveness
Performance Monitoring:
Measure effectiveness of deployed technologies through data, feedback, and performance metrics
Stakeholder Engagement:
Collaborate with internal teams, clients, and partners to ensure alignment and successful integration of technology solutions
Continuous Improvement:
Analyze performance and recommend improvements, modifications, or retirement of technologies to support enterprise objectives
Industry Engagement:
Represent Walbridge at industry events and conferences, strengthening visibility and leadership in construction technology When assigned to a project, the role includes the following:
Early Project Engagement:
Embed with project teams during pursuit, preconstruction, and early execution phases to identify technology opportunities aligned with project goals
Technology Deployment:
Lead on-site implementation and configuration of approved technologies, ensuring readiness for field execution
Cross-Functional Coordination:
Partner with IT, VDC/BIM, engineering, and operations teams to integrate technology solutions effectively
Training & Adoption:
Deliver role-based, hands-on training and coach teams on practical application of technology in the field
Optimization & Value Realization:
Monitor technology usage and performance, optimizing workflows to improve productivity, safety, quality, and data reliability
Transition & Hand-Off:
Execute structured transition of technology ownership to project teams, ensuring long-term sustainability and support Qualifications To qualify for the role, you must have Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience Minimum of three (3) years of related professional experience (construction experience preferred) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, and project management tools Foundational understanding of construction technologies, including BIM and digital workflows Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across corporate and project teams Ideally, you'll also have Experience with construction technology deployment in field environments Familiarity with photogrammetry, wireless communication technologies, and digital construction tools Experience with Lean methodologies or structured problem-solving approaches (e.g., A3 Thinking, SCRUM, Choosing by Advantages) Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence adoption Experience supporting innovation initiatives within construction or engineering organizations Basic understanding of database structures and/or experience using PowerBI or similar tools.
