Manager of Controls Services TGW Systems Inc - 3.6 Grand Rapids, MI Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Vendor relationship building Computer operation Computer literacy Managing engineering teams Full Job Description The Manager of Controls Services oversees multiple teams of Controls Commissioning personnel involved in the design and integration of controls systems for industrial material-handling solutions and production lines. This position works closely with other Controls Department management personnel to support all Controls activities pertaining to current and future projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversees teams of engineers in all activities relating to the design, development, and commissioning of control systems. Ensures controls solutions designs and commissioning operations meet required company and customer standards and serves as escalation point for complex issues. Performs personnel management duties including, but not limited to: recruiting, training, scheduling, performance management, compensation management, etc. Conducts labor planning and resource allocation analyses to ensure projects are appropriately staffed and supported. Prepares and delivers presentations and reports on budget, project status, and other topics to a variety of audiences. Develops and monitors critical measurements that serve as leading indicators to controls project success. Travels to worksites as needed to monitor commissioning projects and support complex projects requiring high-level expertise. Supports project quoting activities as necessary. Supports vendor relationship management activities as needed. Performs other duties as required. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Controls-related field (Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, etc.) or equivalent work experience. Experience:
Seven (7) or more years of hands-on Controls Engineering experience, with previous engineering management experience. Travel:
Up to 20% travel, domestically and internationally. Skills & Abilities Robust knowledge of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) systems. Strong leadership ability and excellent communication skills. Demonstrated experience leading teams through challenging and stressful situations. Advanced understanding of electrical and mechanical principles. Demonstrated experience working on full design-to-production project lifecycles. Advanced knowledge of industrial automation and control systems. Solid knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal and C++ or other programming language. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk around industrial and/or warehouse environment for prolonged periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time. Ability to operate computers, tablets, phones, and other electronic devices. Visual and auditory abilities to work safely with and around moving and/or motorized equipment, machinery, parts, and electricity that require safety protocols Ability to move and use muscles for extended periods of time without fatigue. Ability to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces. Ability to communicate regularly with others verbally and in writing. Ability to tolerate exposure to job site temperature fluctuations due to seasonal weather in geographic region.
