Job Description

Position Summary The Tooling Project Manager is responsible for overseeing tooling development activities from quote through production launch. This role leads the die design team, reviews strip layouts and die designs, supports quoting and process development, and serves as a key customer contact throughout the tooling development process. The position ensures projects are completed on time, meet customer requirements, and align with company quality and manufacturing standards. Key Responsibilities Understand and promote compliance with the Quality Management System. Lead tooling development activities from quoting through production launch. Review and approve strip layouts, die processes, and die designs. Schedule and facilitate customer reviews of strip layouts and die designs. Provide feedback, direction, and support to the design team. Promote consistency in design standards and best practices. Support estimating activities through feasibility reviews and process development. Coordinate engineering changes and customer design revisions. Work closely with customers, engineering, manufacturing, and management to ensure project success. Manage project budgets to ensure project profitability. Track work time and job time within ERP System. Balance department workloads and priorities. Facilitate continuous improvement throughout the tooling development process. Perform die design work as needed. Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned. Leadership Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and develop the die design team. Establish department priorities and allocate resources. Communicate project expectations and deadlines. Support employee training, coaching, and performance development. Promote accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Skills & Qualifications Strong understanding of tool making, die design, and metal stamping processes. Proficiency with CAD software and 3D modeling. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Knowledge of customer standards and tooling requirements. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED required. CAD software training required. Associate Degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. 5+ years of die design, tooling development, or tool and die experience preferred. Previous leadership experience preferred. Additional Information Occasional overtime may be required based on project schedules and customer demands. This position is primarily on-site within the engineering and tooling departments. Occasional travel may be required for customer visits, design reviews, and project launches.
Pay:
$80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
