Job Title:
Project Manager - Powder Foundry Equipment Implementation Job Description The Project Manager will lead the introduction of powder foundry equipment into an established automotive parts manufacturing environment. This position oversees the full lifecycle of capital equipment implementation, from supplier coordination and equipment sourcing through installation, process trials, and approval via the PPAP process. The role is highly visible, hands-on, and cross-functional, offering the opportunity to drive a significant cost-savings initiative within the automotive and heavy trucking sector. Responsibilities Lead and manage the end-to-end project to introduce powder foundry equipment into an existing automotive parts production environment. Coordinate with 8-10 suppliers to source, evaluate, and select appropriate powder foundry capital equipment. Oversee and support the installation of new powder foundry equipment, ensuring alignment with production, quality, and safety requirements. Plan, organize, and coordinate process trials to validate equipment performance and determine the quantity of equipment required to meet part demand. Manage the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), including documentation, testing, and communication, to secure approval from the end customer. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, quality, and procurement, to ensure smooth project execution and alignment with business goals. Monitor project timelines, deliverables, and milestones, proactively identifying risks and implementing mitigation plans. Ensure effective communication and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers throughout the project lifecycle. Track project outcomes and contribute to achieving targeted cost savings, including the planned multi-million-dollar savings associated with this initiative. Provide hands-on support on the shop floor as needed to troubleshoot issues, support trials, and validate equipment performance. Essential Skills 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Supplier coordination experience Powder Foundry background Capital Equipment Implementation Additional Skills & Qualifications Water atomization within a foundry Lead free powders PMP Certifications Work Environment This role is primarily onsite within a manufacturing facility and combines hands-on work on the production floor with office-based project coordination and planning. The position involves limited travel within the Midwest region to visit and collaborate with suppliers as needed. The work environment is highly collaborative, with frequent interaction across engineering, operations, quality, and procurement teams, and centers on the installation and integration of new powder foundry equipment into existing production lines. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Greenville, MI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $62.00/hr.
