The role requires a blend of strong project management skills, technical expertise in manufacturing and engineering, and a deep understanding of the aerospace environment. Key Responsibilities •
Project Planning and Management:
Develop comprehensive project plans, define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, and establish detailed timelines and milestones using project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6). •
Budget & Resource Management:
Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel and materials, manage budgets, track costs, and ensure projects are completed within financial constraints. •
Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance:
Ensure all tooling designs and manufacturing processes meet technical specifications, quality standards (such as AS9100), and regulatory requirements. This includes reviewing technical documentation, drawings, and engineering specifications. •
Risk Management:
Proactively identify potential risks (technical, supply chain, regulatory) and implement effective mitigation strategies to prevent project delays or failures. •
Stakeholder Communication:
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal leadership, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and performance metrics. •
Team Leadership & Coordination:
Lead and motivate cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative environment to ensure all moving parts are aligned toward common objectives. •
Problem-Solving & Continuous Improvement:
Address technical issues and unforeseen challenges as they arise, and drive continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies like Lean or Six Sigma to enhance efficiency and reduce defects. Required Qualifications •
Experience:
Proven experience in project management within the aerospace manufacturing or tooling industry. Experience levels typically range from 5-10 years for mid-level managers to 10+ years for senior roles. •
Technical Skills:
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, jig and fixture design principles, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and the ability to read technical drawings. Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) is beneficial. •
Certifications:
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable. Certifications in AS9100 quality management or Lean/Six Sigma are also valuable. •
Soft Skills:
Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential for success in this demanding, highly regulated environment.
