Job Description

Earthwork Project ManagerPosition Overview We are seeking an experienced Earthwork Project Manager to lead and deliver complex earthmoving and site development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising earthwork, grading, excavation, and utilities work from pre-construction through closeout. This role requires strong project management skills, hands-on knowledge of earthwork operations, and the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, ontime, and onbudget projects.

Key ResponsibilitiesLead planning, execution, and closeout of earthwork and site development projects, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives are met.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and cost forecasts; track progress and implement corrective actions as needed.

Coordinate with estimating, design, permitting, subcontractors, and clients to ensure constructability and alignment of project objectives.

Oversee site operations including grading, excavation, compaction, and utilities installation; ensure work complies with plans, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Manage subcontractors and direct labor, including contract administration, performance monitoring, and dispute resolution.

Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks; implement corrective actions and document changes.

Prepare and present project reports, progress updates, and change order documentation to stakeholders and clients.

Enforce safety and environmental compliance; lead toolbox talks, site safety meetings, and enforce company safety policies.

Utilize earthwork modeling and production tools (e.g., AGTEK) to optimize quantities, haul routes, and production rates where applicable.

Support project bidding and preconstruction activities by providing input on scheduling, means and methods, and site logistics.
QualificationsRequired:
Minimum 5 years of direct experience managing earthwork, grading, and excavation projects or equivalent heavy civil/site development experience.
Required:
Demonstrated project management experience with responsibility for schedule, budget, and team coordination.

Experience with earthwork production and takeoff tools (AGTEK preferred) and familiarity with grading and site modeling techniques (preferred).Knowledge of utilities installation, site work sequencing, and heavy civil construction practices.

Proficiency in project scheduling and reporting tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent) and Microsoft Office suite.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage subcontractors.

Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices (OSHA 10/30 preferred) and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
Education:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Nice to have: Experience in site development, heavy civil projects, and advanced scheduling techniques; professional certifications (PMP, CCM) are a plus.
