3 Sons Tri County Lumber is seeking an experienced Lumber & Building Materials Sales & Project Manager to join our growing team. This role combines relationship-driven sales with project management responsibilities. You will work closely with contractors, builders, architects, remodelers, and homeowners while partnering with our in-house design, estimating, purchasing, and operations teams to ensure every project is completed successfully from concept to completion. The ideal candidate understands the building process, can identify customer needs, and is committed to providing exceptional service while managing projects through planning, design, material procurement, and delivery. Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales Develop and cultivate new customer relationships within the residential and light commercial construction markets Identify, qualify, and onboard new contractor, builder, and remodeler partnerships Conduct sales calls, jobsite visits, and networking activities to generate new business Follow up on leads and schedule meetings with prospective customers Analyze customer purchasing trends and sales reports to identify growth opportunities Customer Relationship Management Build and maintain long-term relationships with contractors, builders, architects, and homeowners Serve as the primary point of contact throughout the project lifecycle Resolve customer concerns and provide proactive solutions when challenges arise Deliver a high level of customer service and project communication Project Management Coordinate projects from initial planning through final material delivery Work closely with estimating, purchasing, design, and operations teams to ensure project success Assist customers with material selections, budgeting, and scheduling Manage project timelines and material requirements to ensure on-time completion Provide "White Glove" service throughout every stage of the project Product & Industry Expertise Educate contractors and customers on product offerings, building systems, and new technologies Conduct product training sessions for contractors and their teams Stay current on industry trends, building methods, and product innovations Qualifications Required Minimum 3 years of experience in Lumber & Building Materials (LBM) sales, estimating, project management, or a combination thereof Strong understanding of residential and light commercial construction practices Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints Ability to perform accurate material takeoffs Knowledge of lumber, building materials, and the overall construction process Excellent communication, relationship-building, and customer service skills Strong organizational and time management abilities Professional appearance and demeanor Self-motivated with a proven ability to generate and grow business Qualifications Preferred Existing relationships within the Central Minnesota construction market Experience working directly with builders, contractors, and architects Knowledge of engineered wood products, siding, windows, roofing, and exterior building products Compensation & Benefits At 3 Sons Tri County Lumber, we reward hard work, initiative, and results with one of the most competitive compensation packages in the industry. Compensation Options Salary + Commission Program Competitive base salary 4% commission on total sold revenue after seat salary costs are covered Example:
$4 million in annual sales = approximately $160,000 earnings Commission-Only Program 5% commission on sold revenue from the first dollar Example:
$4 million in annual sales = approximately $200,000 earnings No commission cap. Every member of our sales team has consistently exceeded minimum margin requirements year after year.
