The Junior College of Kansas City, as it was known starting in 1919, was one of the first schools in the country to award an associate degree. Today, MCC offers 125 associate degree and certificate programs. Metropolitan Community College comprises five campuses on the Missouri side of the Greater Kansas City area 47 major buildings and about 550 acres in all: MCC-Blue River , located in Independence, Missouri; MCC-Longview located in Lee's Summit, Missouri, MCC-Maple Woods located in the Northland of Kansas City, Missouri; MCC-Online and MCC-Penn Valley , located in Midtown Kansas City, Missouri. MCC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission . In addition, several programs have specific accreditations as well. •MCC does not provide employer-paid sponsorships. Job Summary The Project Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of a specific short-term project which has a beginning, an end and specified deliverables. Essential Functions Define the scope of the facilities project in collaboration with senior management, create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project determine the resources (time, money, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project, develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities, review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities; revise the schedule as required, determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion, manage and monitor project schedules, budgets and change orders; collects related data; and prepare reports and analyses; develop tracking tools and reports progress and status from inception to closeout Collaborate activities with outside agencies, architects, engineers, contractors and internal department personnel to develop executable project scopes and estimates, conduct project management meetings with MCC stakeholders and contractors to establish and communicate timelines and contractual obligations to project completion; manage and monitor project schedules, budgets and change orders; collect related data; and prepare reports and analyses; develop tracking tools and reports progress and status from inception to closeout Execute the project according to the project plan, develop forms and records to document project activities, set up files to ensure that all project information is appropriately documented and secured; monitors the progress of the project and make adjustments as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project; establishes a communication schedule to update stakeholders on the progress of the project Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards; manages external project design consultants in the development of plans and specifications from project inception through bidding. These responsibilities involve managing the development of design documents for compliance with budget and scope. Acts as the Facility Services department representative throughout bid process. Interprets project scopes and schedules are in accordance with applicable Codes and with District policy and procedures Write reports on the project for management review, communicate with funders as outlined in funding agreements, monitor and review all budgeted project expenditures, manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures, ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date, prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for administration Provide quality assurance reviews of project documents to minimize potential change orders during construction and initiates revisions to project packages when necessary, obtain all required plan reviews prior to bidding (e.g. State Fire Marshal, Division of the State Architect and other authorities having jurisdiction for life safety compliance) Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality; ensures project scopes and schedules are in accordance with applicable Codes and District policies and procedures; evaluates the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Physical Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree Three (3) years of experience in project management or related areaValid Driver's License Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of budget principles and oversight Knowledge of local and state laws and codes Ability to manage diverse responsibilities with minimal supervision Ability to handle confidential information judiciously Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Ability to deal effectively with several abstract and concrete variables Ability to effectively organize and prioritize multiple tasks Ability to identify and express problems and develop recommended solutions from alternative methods and procedures. Ability to write efficient documentation of system processes and applications Skilled in using computer and related software applications including computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Skilled in construction management methods and procedures Skilled in utilizing modern office equipment Skilled in providing customer service Skilled in proofreading and editing documents Skilled in preparing reports and forms Skilled in typing correspondence, memos, and/or other related information Skilled in well-developed verbal and written communication skills Skilled in communicating effectively with coworkers and staff of various levels within the organization Skilled in presentation speaking experience Skilled in analytical thinking capability to understand overall visions as well as minute details. Must be able to design and conduct analytical studies, cost-benefit analyses, or similar research Skilled in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information. Physical Requirements Positions in this class typically require climbing, crawling, crouching, keyboarding, grasping, hearing, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, talking, visual acuity, and walking. The work is very heavy work which requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous physical conditions, such as mechanical parts, electrical currents, and vibrations; atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, gases, and poor ventilation.Supplemental Information EEO Statement:
