Training:
McClure is currently searching for a Land Survey Project Manager in Training (P.M.I.T.) on our growing Survey team in North Kansas City, MO. The P.M.I.T. will learn through the guidance of their colleagues to be the primary point on a variety of survey projects both within the organization, and for external clients. A successful P.M.I.T will demonstrate a strong desire to learn the office side of land survey and land survey project management; a great work ethic; and strong team player, leadership, and mentoring skills for assisting less experienced survey team members. This is primarily an office role, although field work may be required for mentoring, assisting, and successful project completion. The Survey Project Manager is a skilled professional who is responsible for guiding their respective teammates as a productive and cohesive unit that contributes to the success of the project and profitability of the company. The Project Manager is the primary face of the project and is responsible for coordination with clients and internal staff throughout the project's term and must strive to represent the team and the firm well. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A Survey Project Manager in Training must possess the technical skills required to assist in the preparation of effective survey solutions to meet the client's needs. A Project Manager in Training must also possess the interpersonal skills needed to appropriately communicate with clients and successfully lead and mentor teammates. The P.M.I.T. should be capable of learning the following:
  • Ability to build trust, delegate work, and guide their teammates to the successful completion of multiple concurrent projects.
  • Ability to monitor client satisfaction and maintain strong client relationships.
  • A strong understanding of the team's technical surveying expertise.
  • Ability to oversee the team's QA/QC process to ensure high quality deliverables and risk mitigation.
  • Ability to articulate clients' goals and objectives to members of the team
  • Ability to monitor, evaluate, and regulate the financial status of projects.
  • Ability to prepare fee estimates, write proposals, and perform contract management throughout the project Educational and/or Experience Requirements
  • Actively pursuing or in possession of Land Survey Intern certification or Land Survey License.
  • 5 years of experience in surveying or related field.
  • Fluent in Autodesk Civil 3D, and the ability to learn other survey specific software.
  • Strong understanding of coordinate systems, survey field procedures, construction layout.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents and plans.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills.
