Job Description
Assistant Project Manager Jackson, MS Area Seeking an Assistant Project Manager for a specialty construction organization to lead project sales, operations, and client relations for various types of large, complex projects. The ideal candidate will possess a background in project management, construction operations, and industry codes, combined with excellent leadership and organizational skills. Experience or knowledge of Mechanical Plumbing, Piping and HVAC systems is necessary. With a strong backlog of projects already secured, this role best suits a self-directed and entrepreneurial minded candidate, who can hit the ground running - managing projects, report to leadership, as well as maintain and cultivate client relationships. Key Responsibilities Manage 3+ concurrent projects from planning through closeout Travel across an assigned territory to oversee multiple projects Oversee field teams of ~40 personnel per site Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations Coordinate across trades (mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, electrical) Track productivity, costs, and profitability; report to leadership Lead site teams, mentor supervisors, and enforce performance standards Maintain client relationships and drive repeat business Ensure compliance with OSHA, codes, and project specifications Conduct site visits, inspections, and quality/safety audits Manage subcontractors, vendors, and material logistics Prepare billing, SOVs, and financial reporting Identify risks and resolve issues to avoid delays/cost overruns Requirements 4+ years construction project management experience Experience on large, complex commercial/industrial projects (no residential/small commercial) Familiarity with mechanical piping, plumbing, and HVAC systems Basic electrical systems knowledge Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar tools OSHA 30 required Willingness to travel as needed Preferred Piping/HVAC insulation experience Heat tracing experience (or willingness to learn) Compensation & Benefits $55K-$75K base (DOE) Company truck + gas card Per diem for travel to projects outside of home territory Medical, Dental and Vision. 401k after 1-year anniversary Fast-track growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding, 28+ office regional corporation
