Job Description

Senior Project Controls Specialist Location:
Raleigh, NC (Onsite) Contract-to-Hire ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for an experienced Senior Project Controls Specialist to support large-scale industrial capital projects in Raleigh, NC. This position is ideal for candidates with strong cost control, forecasting, budgeting, and project financial management experience within construction, engineering, industrial, or capital project environments. Candidates must be located within vehicle commuting distance to Raleigh, NC.
Responsibilities:
Support development of early-stage budgets and detailed cost estimates Maintain baseline budgets and cost data within project control systems Prepare monthly cost reports including commitments, accruals, and actuals Perform cost reviews and variance analysis with project teams Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts Process and track change requests and budget impacts Maintain audit-ready project documentation and change logs Validate purchase requisitions, invoices, cost codes, and supporting documentation Support procurement processes, contract reviews, and invoice verification Identify project financial risks and assist with mitigation strategies Monitor schedule impacts to project budgets and forecasts Track actual progress versus baseline schedules Conduct root cause analysis of delays and recommend corrective actions Support project closeout activities and final account reconciliation Ensure accurate updates within project management and reporting systems Contribute benchmark and historical cost data for future projects Maintain high standards of reporting accuracy, data integrity, and compliance
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required 6-10+ years of experience in cost control or project controls Strong understanding of: Cost reporting Forecasting & budgeting Project accounting Change management Financial analysis Experience supporting: Procurement processes PR/PO workflows Contract reviews Invoice validation Advanced proficiency with Excel and cost management systems Experience in construction, industrial, engineering, manufacturing, or capital project environments preferred Knowledge of scheduling principles and schedule impact analysis preferred Experience with dashboards, analytics, or automation tools is a plus Professional certifications such as AACE or RICS are a plus Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Pay:
$48.08 - $67.31 per hour
