Job Description
Job Summary The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, execution, and successful completion of electrical construction projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in accordance with the highest quality and safety standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and financial oversight, along with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The Project Manager serves as the primary liaison between clients, field teams, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders, driving performance and accountability from project initiation through final closeout. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Initiation Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders Develop detailed project schedules, cost estimates, manpower forecasts, and execution strategies Review contract documents, specifications, and drawings to ensure complete understanding of project requirements Identify project risks early and incorporate mitigation strategies into planning Coordinate permitting requirements and ensure all regulatory approvals are secured prior to project start Establish project controls, reporting structures, and communication plans Lead pre-construction meetings, project handoffs, and kickoff meetings Project Execution & Control Direct and manage all phases of electrical construction projects from mobilization through commissioning Monitor productivity, performance metrics, and job costs to ensure alignment with project goals Analyze cost reports, labor productivity, and material usage to identify trends and areas for improvement Manage subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure contract compliance and performance expectations are met Approve invoices, review change orders, and ensure accurate billing and revenue recognition Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and field operations teams to ensure seamless project execution Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, codes, and company standards Financial Management Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project budgets and forecasts Track and control project costs, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement value engineering solutions Manage project cash flow, billing cycles, and collections in coordination with accounting Review and approve job cost reports, ensuring accuracy and accountability Prepare financial projections and provide regular updates to senior leadership Quality & Safety Management Enforce strict adherence to quality standards and ensure all installations meet or exceed specifications Implement and maintain quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) processes Ensure compliance with all OSHA regulations, company policies, and site-specific safety requirements Lead safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and safety audits to promote a zero-incident culture Monitor field activities to ensure safe work practices are consistently followed Investigate incidents, near-misses, and safety violations; implement corrective actions Team Leadership & Workforce Development Lead, supervise, and mentor project teams including foremen, electricians, apprentices, and support staff Provide clear direction, set expectations, and hold team members accountable for performance Support workforce planning, staffing decisions, and resource allocation Develop team capabilities through coaching, training, and professional development opportunities Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement Collaborate with HR on hiring, onboarding, and performance management Client & Stakeholder Communication Act as the primary point of contact for clients, ensuring consistent communication and high levels of satisfaction Build and maintain long-term client relationships to support repeat business and growth opportunities Provide regular project updates, including schedule status, financial performance, and risk assessments Lead client meetings, progress reviews, and project presentations Address client concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring timely resolution Coordinate with general contractors, owners, engineers, and inspectors Risk Management & Problem Solving Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks related to safety, schedule, cost, and technical challenges Develop contingency plans to address potential delays or cost overruns Manage scope changes and ensure proper documentation and approval of change orders Resolve conflicts and disputes with clients, subcontractors, and team members Make informed decisions under pressure to keep projects on track Procurement & Contract Management Oversee procurement processes, including sourcing, purchasing, and delivery of materials and equipment Negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors to ensure favorable terms Ensure compliance with contract requirements, terms, and conditions Manage subcontractor agreements, performance, and payment approvals Documentation & Compliance Maintain complete and accurate project documentation, including contracts, drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders Ensure all permits, inspections, and regulatory requirements are met Oversee project closeout processes, including punch lists, final inspections, and documentation turnover Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations Qualifications Education & Certification Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred) Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license (highly preferred) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (preferred) OSHA 30 certification (required) Experience Minimum of 8+ years of experience in electrical construction or related field Minimum of 2-5 years in a project management or leadership role Proven experience managing large-scale or complex electrical projects Experience with industrial, commercial, and/or oil & gas projects (preferred) Familiarity with multiple project delivery methods (design-build, design-bid-build, EPC) Skills & Competencies In-depth knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable regulations Strong understanding of construction processes, scheduling, and cost control Proficiency in project management and construction software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore) Advanced financial and analytical skills Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation abilities Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality Valid driver's license with acceptable driving recor Physical Demands Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally Ability to work in both office and active construction environments May require travel to job sites and working in varying weather conditions Work Environment This position operates in a hybrid environment, combining office-based responsibilities with frequent field visits to construction sites. The role requires flexibility, adaptability, and strict adherence to all safety standards and site-specific requirements. This position is required to travel 95% of the time. Pay:
$110,000.00 - $175,000.00 per yearBenefits:
