Job Description

Traveling Assistant Project ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking a proactive Traveling Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of industrial construction and maintenance projects across multiple client sites. This role combines hands-on site coordination with project management support to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget. The ideal candidate is experienced in industrial environments, comfortable traveling frequently, and skilled at coordinating teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

Key ResponsibilitiesSupport Project Managers in planning, executing, and closing industrial projects, including schedule and budget tracking.

Travel regularly to job sites to oversee daily operations, provide on-site coordination, and act as the primary point of contact in the Project Managers absence.

Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal crews to ensure work is completed to quality, safety, and schedule requirements.

Monitor project progress and update project schedules, logs, and forecasts; prepare status reports for stakeholders.

Assist with cost control activities: track invoices, change orders, and project expenses; highlight and escalate variances.

Enforce safety and compliance protocols on site, conduct walkdowns, and participate in safety meetings and incident investigations.

Facilitate communication between clients, engineering, procurement, and field teams to resolve issues and maintain alignment with project goals.

Maintain accurate project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, as-built records, and closeout packages.

Support procurement and materials coordination to ensure timely delivery and resolution of site material issues.

Contribute to quality assurance and commissioning activities, including punch-list creation and verification.

QualificationsBachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.3+ years of experience supporting projects in industrial environments (manufacturing, energy, petrochemical, or heavy industrial) with demonstrated site coordination skills.

Proven project management competencies: schedule control, cost tracking, change order management, and reporting.

Familiarity with project software (MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar), MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and document control systems.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and communicate with clients.

Knowledge of safety regulations and certifications (OSHA 10/30 or equivalent preferred) and a strong safety-first mindset.

Ability to work in physically demanding environments, adapt to changing site conditions, and solve field-level problems under time constraints.
