Job Description

Nature of Work Performs a variety of professional and administrative duties in support of the day to day operations of a function, program, and/or department - this is not a secretarial position. Assists in program planning and development; interprets, monitors, and analyzes information regarding operating policies and procedures; administers budgets; and coordinates academic and/or staff personnel matters. Resolves problems that have a significant impact on the overall goals of the department. Examples of Work Performed 1. Plan, organize, and coordinate academic and career events and activities (such as new student registration, transfer day, career fairs and other student success events) including but not limited to coordinating logistics, arranging catering, scheduling venue and coordinating room layouts. 2. Maintain and update website for the Academic and Career Success Center and associated social media accounts 3. Promote events and activities, writing communications and designing presentation and marketing materials in collaboration with a graphic designer 4. Manage project timelines, deliverables, and implementation plans for center initiatives 5. Anticipate challenges and independently implement corrective actions to keep projects on track 6. Prepare and maintain office records, scheduling for tutor positions, coaching appointments, Early Alert Program, workshops, Writing Help Desk, and General Studies courses 7. Maintain and update student advisor information in PeopleSoft 8. Support assessment planning and evaluation of programs, initiatives and student outcomes 9. Analyze information, identify issues, and determine next steps with minimal supervision 10. Complete contract recommends and information sheets for faculty and student workers associated with activities that support Academic and Career Succes Center work 11. Preserve student records and respond to student requests as needed 12. Run various computer programs including but not limited to: PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Publisher, Wildcats Online, Wildcat360 (Pharos), Handshake, 12Twenty, and the Outlook system 13. Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing tasks, managing competing deadlines, and determining appropriate courses of action 14. Support cross-functional coordination between advising staff, administration, and campus partners 15. Schedule meetings, prepare agendas/ supporting documents, and generate minutes for distribution/ archive 16. Prepare various materials, copies, packets, and office supplies 17. Maintain office communications through phone, email, and direct communication for all employees of the Academic and Career Success Center 18. Receive and direct students, campus guests, faculty and other walk-in traffic 19. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Associate's degree or work-related experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills, professional demeanor Experience with social media, graphic design or publications Professional customer service, communication and organizational skills Experience working collaboratively in office settings Proven experience with technology and applicable software applications Physical Demands License and Certification Requirements Other Requirements Criminal Background Check Salary Information Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive benefit package. Annual salary range is $42,950- $53,688.

Position Work Hours:
Standard Wayne State College Office hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Central Time. Deviations to the standard office hours may be requested based on events, supervisor will work to ensure compensatory time and flexible work schedule policies are followed.
