Job Description

Job Description An entertainment client is seeking a Project Manager to help us delivery great web-based products. You will work with a team that builds and maintains the data products that power analytics, BI, identity and ads products across large consumer facing news websites. These sites entertain millions of users every day across desktop, mobile, tablet, and emerging platforms. We are a cross-functional team consisting of software engineers, web developers, designers, project managers and product managers who are all collaborating to operate one of the highest-traffic digital platforms in our client's diverse portfolio. We cater to a global audience in multiple languages and bring the brand to the audience wherever they may be in formats that are fun, fast, and aesthetically pleasing while also achieving key business goals. As a project manager you know that projects rarely go exactly as planned. One stage of a project often relies on another stage meeting its deadline or maintaining its schedule. Before problems arise, we have plans ready to be implemented and strategies for circumventing those obstacles. Primary Responsibilities
  • Primary ongoing responsibility is for management of projects focusing on meeting project commitments, including communications with sponsors, stakeholders, etc.
  • Facilitate the definition of project missions, goals, tasks, and resource requirements
  • Spends significant time leading or assisting in the planning, implementation and introduction of projects for new systems and technologies
  • Expected to develop a schedule designed to meet necessary deadlines, communicate with team members about that schedule, and track work to make sure it is on pace to make deadlines
  • Organize and drive stakeholder meetings and working sessions
  • Prepare necessary presentation materials for meetings; document and follow up on important actions and decisions from meetings
  • Document project phases and create summary reports for executive committee
  • Ensure projects adhere to frameworks and that documentation is maintained appropriately for each project
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable
  • Recognize problems or situations that are new or without clear precedent; evaluate alternatives and find solutions using a systematic, multi-step approach
  • Proactively engage present and future stakeholders in design, priority setting, and implementation.
  • Build collaboration among stakeholders; negotiate authority to move the project forward
  • Create a sense of belonging and ownership among team members and promote mutual support and interaction

  • 5+ years of project management experience in the digital entertainment, software development or other related technology team
  • 3+ years with direct experience delivering fast-paced SDLC projects
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Agile/SCRUM product development & project management principles, best practices and procedures
  • Previous experience working with data products such as: analytics, ads, BI, identity, privacy, etc.
  • Ability to create/understand systems diagrams and workflow models
  • Experience with Atlassian products: JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket or Sourcetree, Bamboo, AND/OR any diagram/flowchart software such as: OmniGraffle, Gliffy
  • Ability to simultaneously manage many moving parts and personnel within the same project
  • BA/BS degree in Business or a Technical field
  • Experience managing web-based projects in a Java environment
  • Background in web development frameworks and technologies
  • Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) is a plus
