12-month contract (strong potential for extension or conversion)
Pay:
45-55/hr Overview Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Staff Project Controls Specialist to support large-scale utility infrastructure projects with their client, PSEG. This position is focused on project scheduling coordination and cross-functional support, helping ensure projects stay on track, aligned, and efficiently executed. This role is ideal for someone with experience in project controls or project scheduling within construction, engineering, or utility environments, particularly those with exposure to Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects such as substations, power lines, or grid infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Support the development, maintenance, and coordination of project schedules (Primavera P6) Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to track progress and ensure alignment with timelines Review and update scheduling data, logs, and reports to reflect current project status Assist with the creation and management of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) Monitor project milestones and identify potential risks or delays Coordinate across teams to ensure timely completion of project deliverables Support reporting efforts, including schedule updates, forecasts, and progress tracking Participate in project planning sessions and team meetings Ensure compliance with project standards, processes, and safety requirements Required Qualifications 4-8 years of experience in project controls, project scheduling, or project coordination Background supporting construction, engineering, or utility projects (non-IT) Hands-on experience with Primavera P6 (required) Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.) Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience in lieu of degree) Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects (substations, transmission lines, grid modernization, etc.) Experience in the utility or energy sector Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) or project cost tracking concepts OSHA 10-hour certification (or willingness to obtain) Location & Work Environment Hybrid onsite role in the Greater Philadelphia / South Jersey area Typical schedule: Tuesday -
Thursday:
Mount Laurel, NJ (PSEG office)
Monday & Friday:
Conshohocken, PA (Burns & McDonnell office)
Flexibility:
