This role is responsible for managing electrical design efforts, overseeing project schedules and budgets, ensuring technical excellence, and delivering high-quality solutions that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in building electrical systems, proven project management experience, and the ability to effectively coordinate with multidisciplinary teams on commercial, institutional, healthcare, and mixed-use developments.
  • ## Key Responsibilities ### Project Leadership
  • Lead electrical engineering projects from conceptual design through construction administration and project closeout.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, contractors, and internal project teams.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, staffing, and deliverables to ensure successful project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with quality standards. ### Electrical Design Management
  • Oversee the design and development of electrical systems, including:
  • Power distribution systems
  • Interior and exterior lighting systems
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Low-voltage and communication systems
  • Emergency and backup power systems
  • Review and approve engineering calculations, specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, energy codes, and client requirements.
  • Coordinate equipment selection, load calculations, and system integration efforts. ### Multidisciplinary Coordination
  • Collaborate closely with architectural, mechanical, structural, and civil engineering teams.
  • Lead design coordination meetings and participate in client presentations.
  • Facilitate communication among stakeholders to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Coordinate electrical systems with other building disciplines to avoid conflicts and improve constructability. ### Team Leadership & Development
  • Supervise, mentor, and support electrical engineers, designers, and drafting personnel.
  • Delegate project assignments and monitor workload distribution.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to team members.
  • Promote professional growth and development within the electrical engineering team. ### Construction Administration & Field Support
  • Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, and requests for information (RFIs).
  • Conduct site visits, field inspections, and progress evaluations.
  • Resolve design and installation issues during construction.
  • Provide technical support and clarification to contractors, owners, and construction teams.
  • Assist with project commissioning and closeout activities. ### Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Ensure all engineering documents meet company quality standards.
  • Implement quality control procedures throughout project lifecycles.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and best practices.
  • ## Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of electrical engineering design experience within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (A/E/C) industry.
  • Proven experience managing and leading electrical engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • Electrical power systems
  • Lighting design
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Low-voltage systems
  • Building electrical infrastructure
  • Proficiency with Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Thorough understanding of NEC, local building codes, and industry standards.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • ## Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) actively pursuing PE licensure.
  • Experience working within a consulting engineering or multidisciplinary design firm.
  • Experience with commercial, institutional, healthcare, higher education, or mixed-use building projects.
  • Previous experience mentoring junior engineers and designers.
  • Familiarity with energy-efficient and sustainable building design practices.
  • Knowledge of construction administration processes and field coordination.
