The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural steel construction, shop drawing review and coordination, field operations, scheduling, safety compliance, and client communication. This position requires an individual who can effectively coordinate between owners, engineers, detailers, fabricators, erectors, subcontractors, and internal teams to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage multiple structural steel projects simultaneously from pre-construction through final completion. Review and coordinate structural steel shop drawings, erection drawings, and RFIs. Work directly with Engineers of Record (EORs), architects, detailers, and fabricators to obtain timely shop drawing approvals and resolve design conflicts. Coordinate fabrication schedules, material procurement, and delivery logistics. Supervise and support steel erection activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and erection plans. Conduct site visits to monitor project progress, quality, productivity, and safety Performance. Maintain project schedules and proactively identify and mitigate potential delays. Manage project budgets, change orders, subcontract agreements, and cost tracking. Facilitate project meetings with owners, general contractors, engineers, and field Personnel. Ensure compliance with contract documents, project specifications, and applicable building codes. Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports, schedules, and closeout Packages. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Safety Responsibilities:
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout all phases of fabrication and erection. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections and participate in safety meetings. Coordinate fall protection, rigging, crane operations, and erection safety requirements. Identify and address unsafe conditions and practices immediately. Support incident investigations and corrective action implementation when necessary.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum 5 years of experience managing structural steel fabrication and/or erection Projects. Strong understanding of structural steel detailing, fabrication processes, and erection Procedures. Proven experience reviewing and coordinating shop drawings and obtaining EOR Approvals. Experience supervising steel erection operations in the field. Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards. Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, specifications, and contract Documents. Strong scheduling, organizational, and project management skills. Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Outlook, and Project. Preferred, Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field. Experience with Tekla, SDS/2, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or similar construction software. OSHA 30 Certification. AISC fabrication or erection experience. Experience working on commercial, industrial, data center, healthcare, or large-scale structural steel projects. Experience in additional trades. I.E. metal framing, concrete, civil installations, etc.
