Job Description:
Butler Construction Group, Inc. is a dynamic and growing general contractor committed to delivering top-quality construction services. As we continue to expand, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) with 2-3 years of experience to join our team. This position is primarily field based, supporting active construction projects, with occasional visits to our corporate office in Montgomery, NY for coordination, meetings, and administrative tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys being on-site, actively involved in project execution, while still gaining exposure to project management processes. The Assistant Project Manager will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and the Estimating & Procurement Department to help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist Project Managers in coordinating all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout Support day-to-day on-site operations, working closely with Superintendents and field teams Track project progress and help ensure adherence to schedules and budgets Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services Review and help process submittals, RFIs (Requests for Information), and change orders Assist in preparing and maintaining project documentation, including daily reports, logs, and field records Conduct regular job site walks to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance Attending project meetings both on-site and occasionally at the corporate office Collaborate with Estimating & Procurement teams during project transitions Assist in punch list completion and project closeout activities Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success
Qualifications:
2-3 years of experience in construction project management or a related role (General Contractor experience preferred) Comfortable working primarily in the field environment Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks Excellent communication and coordination skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams) Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to grow Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field (preferred) Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
