Job Description

Wider Inc. - Project Manager for
Millwork, Luxury Retail & Residential Location:
New York, NY Employment Type:
Full-time About Us We are the U.S. branch of a Wider, a Swiss-headquartered millwork group known for precision craftsmanship across Europe, the US and Middle East. From high-end retail boutiques to luxury residential interiors, our work blends technical complexity with refined architectural detailing. Our New York office is small, fast-moving, and highly collaborative. We work closely with our in-house fabrication teams in Switzerland and Italy, U.S.-based in-house installers, and a growing network of American specialty suppliers. We are seeking a Project Manager who can support and lead complex projects, manage domestic sourcing efforts, and provide outstanding service to demanding clients in both retail and residential sectors. Role Overview The Project Manager will oversee luxury retail and high-end residential millwork projects from kickoff through punch-list, serving as a key coordinator between U.S. stakeholders and our European production teams. This role requires technical fluency, professionalism, and the ability to manage details with diplomacy and calm under pressure. On some projects, you will support an existing Swiss project manager as a co-PM, ensuring seamless communication and local oversight. You will report to the Head of Project Management in Switzerland and the US Operational Manager. You will also present your work directly to the CEO and executive leadership. Key Responsibilities Project Planning & Execution Manage luxury retail and high-end residential millwork projects from early planning to installation. Serve as co-PM on select projects, partnering closely with Swiss PMs to divide responsibilities and maintain unified communication. Review architectural drawings, fabrication drawings, and engineering packages to identify gaps or clarify details. Maintain project schedules, scope alignment, budgets and deliverable tracking. Client, Residential Owner & Stakeholder Management Deliver exceptional customer service—responsive, diplomatic, calm, and solutions-oriented. Ensure seamless communication and handoffs with your sales counterpart. Serve as a trusted point of contact for architects, general contractors, residential owners/representatives, and brand clients. Attend site meetings, coordinate punch lists, and ensure a professional presence on installations. Domestic Sourcing & Supplier Development Identify and evaluate U.S. suppliers for specialty components, finishes, hardware, and assemblies when domestic sourcing is required. Collaborate with newly developed U.S. partners to ensure quality, schedule, and technical compliance. Coordinate with European engineering teams to validate locally sourced alternatives. Logistics & Installation Coordination Support shipments from Switzerland and Italy to U.S. destinations. Plan installation sequencing, verify site readiness, and coordinate with field installers to resolve technical issues. Ensure all drawings, hardware, and materials arrive correctly and on schedule. Quality Control, Punch Lists & After-Sales Track all outstanding items and variations; escalate risks before they affect the schedule or client expectations. Lead punch-list coordination and prepare final handoff packages. Work with the global SAV (after-sales service) manager in Switzerland to transition projects smoothly into the after-sales phase. Internal Collaboration & Process Improvement Coordinate daily with Swiss and Italian fabrication teams. Support continuous improvement of workflows between U.S. and European offices. Help refine documentation standards, installation readiness checklists, and communication protocols. Qualifications Required 5+ years of project management experience in millwork, luxury interiors, architectural fabrication, or construction. Strong technical understanding of drawings, shop drawings, tolerances, and detailing. Outstanding customer service and diplomatic communication style—especially important for residential clients and luxury-brand interactions. Experience managing vendors and/or sourcing specialty materials. Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities. Willingness to travel domestically (10-20%) and occasionally internationally. Preferred Experience with high-end residential interiors, custom millwork, or bespoke fabrication. French language skills highly valued. Familiarity with AutoCAD, Top Solid, or similar CAD platforms. Experience developing new suppliers or managing domestic manufacturing partners. Background in international project coordination across time zones. What We Offer Be part of a 75 year old tradition of excellence. The opportunity to work on some of the most prestigious and technically advanced retail and residential projects in the U.S. Close collaboration with European engineering and PM teams. A role with genuine ownership and growth in a rapidly expanding US office. Travel for projects and travel to Swiss HQ. Competitive compensation, benefits, and an environment that values initiative, professionalism, and craftsmanship.
