Job Description

Job Title:
Environmental Project Manager Job Description Oversee every phase of environmental projects—from planning through implementation—ensuring quality, consistency, and regulatory compliance. Projects range from $150k to multi-million dollar Superfund sites, Brownfields, and US EPA projects across various locations. Responsibilities Oversee a team of junior level environmental scientists and design projects. Manage contracts, purchase orders, project documentation, and coordinate with clients, regulators, and subcontractors. Take charge of project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, cash management, and ensure timely payments and accurate reporting. Lead monthly project review meetings, communicating progress and updates to clients, management, and project teams. Develop and implement health and safety plans, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, quality standards, and permitting requirements. Essential Skills Project management Environmental science Environmental compliance Environmental remediation Site assessment Environmental engineering Groundwater management Phase I and II environmental site assessments EPA regulations Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, science, planning, engineering management, or a related field Minimum of 7 years of industry experience Minimum of 4 years of project management experience Experience working on or managing a Superfund or Brownfield site Experience leading a team Excellent communication, problem-solving, project financial management, and leadership skills Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of New York State environmental regulations and guidance Experience preparing proposals, project plans, extra work authorizations, and project closeout documents Occasional travel required Experience with environmental construction, soil sampling, geology, and report writing OSHA 40 and
HAZWOPER
certification Budget management and permitting Consulting experience preferred PMP, PE or equivalent professional license preferred Experience with Microsoft Office; knowledge of MS Project, Primavera P6, or Deltek Vision preferred Embrace a 'seller/doer' mindset, actively developing new business opportunities Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships Work Environment Work primarily in an office environment. The role involves occasional travel to project sites. Collaborate with skilled ecologists, scientists, engineers, and project managers in a purpose-driven environment that supports continuous professional development. Engage in impactful environmental work that restores and protects natural resources. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Syracuse, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52.88 - $57.69/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
