Job Title:
Project Manager - Manufacturing Operations Job Description The Project Manager will lead and coordinate internal cross-functional teams within operations and lean manufacturing to drive efficiency, streamline processes, and improve visibility across projects. This role focuses on consolidating and documenting project plans, defining clear resource needs, and ensuring teams meet timelines and deliverables. The position centers on process improvement, data and documentation, and backlog management within a manufacturing environment, supporting existing project managers. Responsibilities Lead and coordinate internal cross-functional teams across operations and manufacturing to ensure projects move smoothly from start to finish. Recommend and implement improvements to internal processes to increase manufacturing efficiency and support lean operations. Establish clear communication channels between departments to drive alignment on priorities, timelines, and deliverables. Hold team members accountable for meeting agreed-upon timelines, milestones, and deliverables, providing follow-up and support as needed. Review and interpret key metrics to support internal decision-making and identify opportunities to improve performance and throughput. Define, monitor, and track daily and weekly backlog burn-down targets across operations and manufacturing activities. Consolidate and document structured project plans across teams, ensuring resources, responsibilities, and deadlines are clearly defined and updated. Coordinate material flows and scheduling of orders to support on-time production and delivery commitments. Offload and support tasks from existing project managers to ensure projects remain on track and properly documented. Read and interpret technical drawings to support planning, coordination, and communication with manufacturing and operations teams. Work closely with internal stakeholders at various levels and functions, maintaining strong, proactive communication throughout project lifecycles. Contribute to streamlining workflows and improving visibility into project status, especially where the new ERP system has introduced inefficiencies. Manage and maintain project documentation and process-related records to ensure accuracy, traceability, and ease of access. Essential Skills 5+ years of project management experience, including taking projects from initiation through completion. Proven experience in project management and project coordination within or closely tied to a manufacturing environment. Ability to manage internal operations, documentation, and process improvements with a focus on lean manufacturing principles. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through. Demonstrated ability to hold team members accountable and drive progress against timelines and deliverables. Experience communicating effectively with diverse internal stakeholders across multiple departments and roles. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings to support planning and coordination. Proficiency with project management practices and tools to track tasks, milestones, and backlog burn-down targets. Bachelor's degree. Strong interpersonal presence and confidence to influence and guide cross-functional teams. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience working with ERP systems at a user level, with an understanding of how they support manufacturing workflows. Exposure to and comfort working within a manufacturing environment, including operations and production settings. Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement approaches. Experience coordinating material movements and production schedules. Ability to manage multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills for interpreting metrics and using data to support decisions and process improvements. Motivated, proactive approach with the ability to identify gaps in processes and propose practical solutions. Work Environment The role is based in a newly remodeled manufacturing facility with attached office space, offering an updated and professional environment that combines production areas with dedicated office and collaboration spaces. You will work closely with operations, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams in a setting that emphasizes safety, lean operations, and continuous improvement. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Akron, OH. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $52.00/hr.
