Job Summary Responsible for coordinating project cost analysis and controls in support of Project Managers and other team members. This role oversees cost reporting for multiple projects, monitors project budgets, provides forecast updates and variance analysis, and supports project management best practices throughout the project lifecycle. The position also involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, creating work orders, tracking key performance indicators, and supporting process improvement efforts.

What you'll do: Essential Job Functions & Tasks Coordinate project meetings and support project team members on project activities. Assist the Project Manager with preparing and updating project documentation and planning. Prepare forecasts of project spending and cash flows, including budget variance monitoring and cost tracking/analysis. Provide analysis and verification for SOX activities as needed and assist with annual budget, capital forecasts, five-year plan, and improvement requisitions. Perform estimate versus actual analysis and support variance reporting and baseline budget development. Create project breakdown structures and support departmental organizational functions as assigned. Track, analyze, and verify unvouchered liabilities, maintain complete project system records, and coordinate the work order process through closing. Assist with contracting activities, including bidding, cost analysis, and cost tracking, depending on business unit needs. Communicate with project teams, resources, and internal/external stakeholders regarding budgetary items and project status. Apply technical knowledge and analytical techniques to solve problems and support decision-making. Develop and compile key performance indicators related to scope, schedule, budgeting, cost performance, and forecasting. Support customers and vendors by resolving work order issues and implementing action plans in a fast-paced team environment. Follow AEP project/work management standards and governance guidance. Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees as appropriate. Recommend improvements to enhance project performance, role effectiveness, and service delivery. Coordinate work activities of others, including contractors and vendors, as needed. Participate in team decision-making and consensus building. What we're looking for: Education requirements are listed below: High School Diploma or GED with four (4) years of experience as a Project Cost Analyst Associate. Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with three (3) years of qualified experience. Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university with one (1) year of qualified experience. Related fields may include Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management. Work Experience requirement listed below:
Experience in utility-specific operations with a working knowledge of work processes and procedures. Experience in design, operations, planning, project management, cost tracking, analysis, forecasting, and project budgeting. Experience working with accounting principles and/or construction or maintenance of systems and equipment. Other preferences:
Professional or trade certification such as CCMP, CETa, IQCP, PMP, or RMP is not required at this level. Certification may be required for progression to the Principle level, depending on education background. Strong time management, organization, planning, attention to detail, and accuracy skills. Basic technical knowledge and strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to work well in a team and collaborate effectively with others. Some travel, including overnight travel, may be required. Ability to perform light physical duties at various work sites and in varying conditions. Willingness to work overtime, call-out overtime, and shift work as needed. Familiarity with corporate accounting, project cost management systems, construction environments, earned value management, and scheduling systems is preferred. Ability to listen to and satisfy internal and external customers. For nuclear positions, work may involve hazardous areas and possible radiation exposure within regulated limits.
