The Role:
Senior project manager on the design team. You will focus on residential projects that transform single-family homes into complexes of two or more homes. The architect/designer position is available for a broad range of experience and we encourage any designer who is passionate about changing the future of housing to apply. Your responsibilities will include working with clients from initial consultations to completion of construction administration on projects, including ADUs and small complexes. Typical projects include house-lifts, remodels/reinventions, and detached two and three-bedroom ADUs ranging from 400-4000 square feet. You will be responsible for client communication, project management, design work, drafting and detailing, presentations, permitting, and construction administration.

Your Activities:
You will be part of the New Avenue design team and will be assigned to a variety of residential projects throughout the California Bay area. This is a local position with regular in person meetings required. On a day to day basis, this position involves logging in to our self-developed project management app, following up with client communications, developing project schedules, executing design work, presenting ideas to the internal team and to clients, managing and collaborating with outside consultants, executing design work using Revit and other tools, creating full Construction Documents, fostering the project through the permitting process, and facilitating construction administration services. This requires the capacity to juggle several projects at the same time so you must be adept at project management and disciplined in following a strict project schedule by adhering to deadlines and deliverables. You will be assigned to your own projects and clients within the NA team under the direction of a senior staff member. This gives you a lot of flexibility and design freedom as well as a lot of responsibility for the success of your projects.
Required Skills:
Autodesk Revit or Revit LT (including phasing, component creation, and sheet layout) Adobe Creative Suite GSuite Great communication & writing. (you can use just the right words to say just the right things). Composure to meet with owners and contractors on job sites and make sure your design intent is followed. Experience leading residential projects including submitting AUPs and building permit submittals. You must have the ability to obtain building permits independently. Custom detail drawing experience Supplemental Skills (nice-to-have): Construction experience Fluent in Spanish or another second language Sustainable design knowledge Permitting process experience Construction administration

Remote Work:
New Avenue has been a work-from-from home culture since before the days of Covid. Local site visits and city permitting research is often required to be done in-person, however this is flexible and some fully remote positions are available.
