Job Description:
A growing $700M Design Build General Contractor headquartered in downtown Chicago is looking to add an Assistant Project Manager to their team due to continued growth across multiple business units. This is an opportunity to join one of the more well respected builders in the Chicago market with a strong pipeline of local work across healthcare, multifamily, commercial, education, and public sector construction. Unlike many APM roles that pigeonhole you into one project type or one department, this opportunity is intentionally structured to give you exposure across multiple sectors and phases of construction. The goal is to develop future Project Managers with a well rounded operational background and fast track progression internally. What They're Offering Base salary ranging from $100K - $120K Annual bonus potential up to 20% Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Clear 6-12 month progression path into a Project Manager position 100% local Chicagoland projects with no travel required Exposure to multiple construction sectors and business units Collaborative leadership team with strong mentorship from senior operations leaders Strong backlog and long term pipeline stability High visibility within the organization and opportunity for accelerated career growth Comprehensive health insurance coverage 401(k) with company contribution Vehicle allowance Flexible PTO structure Downtown Chicago office with hybrid flexibility depending on project demands Responsibilities Assist in managing projects from preconstruction through closeout Support budgeting, buyout, scheduling, and subcontractor coordination efforts Work alongside Project Managers and Superintendents on day to day project execution Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation Participate in client meetings, OAC meetings, and subcontractor coordination Help monitor project financial performance and reporting Coordinate with estimating, preconstruction, and field operations teams Gain exposure across healthcare, multifamily, commercial, education, and public work projects What They're Looking For 2+ years of experience within commercial construction project management Experience working for a General Contractor or Design Build firm Exposure to ground up and/or interior construction projects Strong communication and organizational skills Desire to grow into a full Project Manager position quickly Motivated individuals looking for long term career progression within a stable and growing firm This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their career with a company that genuinely invests in developing future operational leaders rather than keeping people siloed in one lane long term.
