Job Title:
Technical Project Manager - Electromechanical Systems Job Description This role leads complex technical projects involving hardware and electromechanical systems, applying formal project management methodologies to deliver projects on schedule and within budget. The Technical Project Manager coordinates engineering activities, manages contracts and change orders, oversees project scope and resources, and ensures clear communication of risks, issues, and status to stakeholders. The position combines hands-on project scheduling and cost estimating with technical understanding of electromechanical devices and supporting systems. Responsibilities Apply formal project management methodologies to plan, execute, monitor, and close projects in a professional and structured manner. Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules using project scheduling software to ensure on-time delivery. Create and manage detailed project plans that define tasks, milestones, dependencies, and deliverables. Define and control project scope by preparing project scope statements and breaking work down into clear work packages. Prepare and manage formal contract communications, including change orders and related documentation, in coordination with internal and external stakeholders. Develop resource plans and cost estimates, and update them as needed throughout the project lifecycle. Use cost estimating software and tools to forecast and track project costs, ensuring projects remain within budget. Create, maintain, and track risk and issues logs, proactively identifying potential problems and developing mitigation and contingency plans. Produce regular status and exception reports that clearly communicate progress, risks, issues, and required decisions to stakeholders. Coordinate closely with engineering and technical teams working on hardware and electromechanical devices to ensure alignment between technical work and project plans. Manage resource allocation and utilization to ensure the right skills are available at the right time across project activities. Support and guide technical management efforts, helping to align system-level technical decisions with project objectives and constraints. Utilize SAP (System Applications and Products) for project-related activities such as tracking, reporting, and resource or cost management as required. Drive issue resolution by escalating exceptions appropriately and following through on action items to keep the project on track. Continuously monitor project performance and implement corrective actions when deviations from scope, schedule, or budget occur. Essential Skills 5-10 years or more of direct experience in systems project management or systems management. Proven experience managing projects that involve hardware and electromechanical devices or electromechanical engineering. Strong project management skills, including project planning, project scheduling, and project coordination. Hands-on experience creating and maintaining project schedules using project scheduling software. Demonstrated ability to develop detailed project plans, project scope statements, and work packages. Experience managing formal contract communications and processing change orders. Proficiency in developing resource plans and cost estimates, including the use of cost estimating software. Experience maintaining risk and issues logs and implementing risk mitigation strategies. Ability to produce clear and concise status and exception reports for stakeholders. Experience with resource management and resource allocation across multiple tasks or workstreams. Working knowledge of SAP (System Applications and Products). Additional Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science from an accredited college or university is desired; an equivalent combination of technical education, certifications, and experience may be substituted. Project Management Professional (PMP) or other project management certification is desired. ASQC Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification is a plus. Experience in supporting technical management, particularly in systems or engineering environments. Background in engineering or electromechanical engineering is beneficial. Strong communication skills with the ability to manage expectations and escalate issues effectively. Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model, collaborating both on-site and remotely. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Lowell, MA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
