Job Description

Environmental Project Manager Hybrid (3 days in-office / 2 days remote) An established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Environmental Project Manager to lead complex site assessment and remediation projects across New Jersey. This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background and proven experience managing projects, clients, and regulatory processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage environmental investigation and remediation projects from proposal through closure Oversee Phase I/II ESAs, remedial investigations, and NJDEP-driven remediation programs Serve as a primary client contact, managing relationships and expectations Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules; ensure delivery aligns with timelines and financial targets Provide technical oversight on soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations and remediation strategies Review and approve technical reports, regulatory submissions, and work plans Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and NJDEP regulators Mentor junior staff and provide guidance on field activities and reporting Conduct limited field oversight as needed
Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in environmental consulting 2+ years of project management experience with increasing responsibility Strong background in environmental site assessment and remediation In-depth knowledge of NJDEP regulations, guidance, and reporting requirements Hands-on experience with groundwater, soil, and soil vapor investigations Field background with the ability to lead and oversee site activities Experience managing budgets, schedules, and client relationships Strong technical writing, communication, and leadership skills
