Job Title:
Permit Coordinator - Fiber Telecommunications (Remote) Job Description The Permit Coordinator supports large-scale rural fiber deployment projects funded under the Enhanced Alternative Connect America Model (E-ACAM) program. This role focuses on preparing, submitting, and tracking permit applications for fiber optic network construction, ensuring all designs and documentation meet the requirements of municipalities and other permitting authorities. The Permit Coordinator works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to keep projects moving on schedule with minimal oversight. Responsibilities + Review and interpret fiber design drawings, staking sheets, as-builts, as-staked plans, PUE documents, easements, and right-of-way/collocation (ROW/COLO) documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with permitting requirements. + Draw permit polygons in DB621 and accurately capture right-of-way and collocation details needed for permit applications. + Prepare and submit complete permit applications and permit packets, including all required documents and staking sheets, to the appropriate municipalities and permitting entities. + Work directly with municipalities and other authorities to clarify requirements, obtain missing information, and ensure permit applications meet all local standards and regulations. + Track the status of all permit applications using established tracking and project management systems, maintaining up-to-date records of submissions, approvals, rejections, and required revisions. + Organize, store, and maintain all permit-related documents and records in designated systems to ensure easy retrieval and accurate project documentation. + Attend DB621 training sessions and apply the training to daily permitting and documentation tasks. + Provide regular status updates to designated points of contact, including progress on permit submissions, outstanding issues, and anticipated timelines. + Participate in quality control review meetings to address permit-related issues, correct discrepancies, and improve processes. + Attend project meetings prepared with current information on permit status and contribute to strategic planning calls with accurate data and tracking information. + coordinator, clearly communicating project needs, timelines, and permit requirements. + Log, manage, and track detailed information in Excel and other tracking tools, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and complete. + Manage multiple permits, documents, files, and processes simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail and meeting deadlines. + Communicate professionally with internal teams and end customers via email, phone, and virtual meetings to share updates, resolve issues, and coordinate next steps. + Work independently in a remote environment with a high degree of trust, consistently meeting productivity, communication, and attendance expectations. Essential Skills + 5+ years of experience as a Permit Coordinator or in a similar permitting role for joint use telecommunications or fiber projects. + Demonstrated experience acting as a lead or coordinator, including running calls with municipalities and managing permit-related communication with minimal direction. + Hands-on experience with collocation, colocation, "colo," or "joint use," particularly in the context of sharing infrastructure among multiple service providers. + Experience telecommunications and fiber projects, including familiarity with aerial and other fiber deployment methods. + Ability to read and interpret design drawings and construction documents for fiber networks. + Proficiency in using Excel to log, track, and manage project and permitting information. + Proven ability to work remotely with a high level of accountability, reliability, and self-management. + Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple documents, files, applications, and processes simultaneously while maintaining accuracy. + Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with municipalities, end customers, and internal stakeholders via email, phone, and virtual meetings. + Experience obtaining information and clarifications from municipalities or similar regulatory entities. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience working on nationwide rural fiber deployment projects or similar large-scale telecommunications initiatives. + Familiarity with DB621 and experience drawing permit polygons and working with
ROW/COLO
records. + Experience interpreting fiber cable records, including staking sheets, as-builts, as-staked documents, PUE, easement, and right-of-way documentation. + Experience in managing project tracking systems and document management tools for permitting and coordination. + Exceptional attention to detail in gathering, reporting, and following up on time-sensitive information. + Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift and deadlines are critical. + Ability to participate actively in strategic planning calls and project meetings, contributing accurate data and thoughtful input. Work Environment This is a 100% remote role supporting a 30-month fiber deployment project for rural communities across the country. The standard workweek is 40 hours, with core availability required from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. CST. Outside of these core hours, there is flexibility to complete the remaining hours as long as daily deadlines are met. Overtime is not expected or required, and the schedule is structured to support work-life balance. All necessary hardware, including computer, desktop setup, keyboard, and mouse, is provided and shipped to you. Work is performed in typical home office conditions, using digital tools for document management, permit tracking, and communication. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Dallas, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $33.00/hr.
