Duties Description The Project Manager 2 will report directly to the Systems Innovation Division Project Coordinator and will be responsible for the following: Manage multiple projects of small or medium scope and assist in coordinating portions of larger projects. Develop and implement project management plans and supporting documentation. Interact with stakeholders and coordinate the activities of the project team to ensure that the project objectives are met. Perform risk analysis and manage mitigation activities. Evaluate solution performance against business goals and objectives. Demonstrate strong, professional, respectful communication skills, both verbally and in writing. Organize and maintain a project management library and project tools repository. Implement project management processes and policies. Maintain effective professional work relations with individuals, teams, and contacts both with ITS and Tax. Supervise lower-level staff. Adhere to the Department's time and attendance rules and regulations. The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. NY HELPS
Program, this title maybe filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under
NY HELPS
will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a
NY HELPS
title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
NON-COMPETITIVE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
(NY HELPS): Seven years of experience in project management which must have included planning and at least three other of the management process groups: origination (including governance work intake, portfolio management, capacity demand planning); initiating; executing; controlling; and, closing; and the development of project management deliverables, such as scope statements, schedules, budgets, quality plans, risk plans, and communication plans. __ An associate degree may substitute for two years of experience; a bachelor's degree may substitute for four years of experience; a master's degree may substitute for five years of experience; and a doctorate may substitute for seven years of experience. _________________________________
