Project Manager - Epidemiology Research (Clinical Research / Public Health)

12-Month Contract (Potential Extension) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support an Epidemiology-focused research team working on industry-funded, Phase IV pragmatic clinical trials. This role will play a key part in managing feasibility-stage studies, ensuring successful execution of research operations and preparing studies for potential multi-year extension. The ideal candidate brings strong project management experience within research or healthcare environments and excels in cross-functional collaboration with investigators, programmers, and clinical teams. Study Overview Supports industry-funded pragmatic Phase IV trials Initial focus on feasibility studies (Year 1) : Assessing whether study methods can be successfully executed Evaluating operational viability rather than data analysis If successful, studies will transition into 2-3 year full-study phases Key Responsibilities Manage assigned research studies through the feasibility and execution phases Coordinate activities across multiple Principal Investigators (PIs) Collaborate with programmers, research teams, and operational stakeholders Lead study timelines, deliverables, and communication across teams Monitor study progress and ensure alignment with research protocols and operational goals Support coordination of study logistics, including potential site and lab interactions Facilitate cross-functional communication and ensure efficient study execution Identify and resolve project risks, issues, and dependencies Team & Structure Works within a collaborative epidemiology research team Reports into research leadership (Director-level support) Supports 2+ PIs simultaneously No direct reports, but will lead and coordinate project teams Work Environment & Logistics Hybrid role: Primarily remote , with required flexibility for on-site visits Occasional travel to: Research labs (biospecimen work) Medical centers for recruitment Initial onboarding may require more frequent on-site presence , tapering over time Standard schedule: Monday-Friday, business hours Required Qualifications 5-10 years of project management experience (preferably within healthcare, research, or related environments) Strong ability to work in a matrixed, cross-functional environment Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage: Researchers Investigators Technical/programming teams Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously Strong organizational and problem-solving skills Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting epidemiology or public health research Background in clinical research environments (note: this is not a traditional clinical trial PM role) Familiarity with feasibility studies, research operations, or study startup processes Why This Role Opportunity to work on large-scale, industry-funded research initiatives Exposure to innovative study designs and real-world data research Collaborative, team-oriented environment with strong leadership support Potential for long-term extension if studies progress successfully Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Pasadena, CA.
