ASAP is hiring on behalf of our client for a Project Manager II to support capital facilities and construction projects at a nuclear generating station. This role focuses on delivering equipment replacements, facility modifications, infrastructure upgrades, and long-term capital improvements within a highly regulated environment. Projects typically range from $100K to multi-million-dollar investments and require strict adherence to safety, regulatory, and quality standards. This position will manage multiple concurrent projects and work closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, contractors, and leadership to ensure successful delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage full lifecycle execution of capital projects from initiation through closeout Develop and maintain project scope, schedules, budgets, and forecasts Lead project controls activities including cost tracking, forecasting, variance analysis, and reporting Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders including engineering, maintenance, operations, and supply chain Manage contractors, vendors, and procurement processes Conduct field walkdowns and site observations to support constructability and risk mitigation Prepare and present project updates, funding requests, and status reports to leadership Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and regulatory expectations
Work Environment:
Primarily onsite at a nuclear generating facility Standard 40-hour workweek Outage periods may require extended hours, including 12-hour days and weekends Limited remote flexibility based on project needs Occasional travel for vendor visits or project support activities
Required Qualifications:
5-7+ years of project management experience in one or more of the following: Power generation or utilities Heavy industrial or manufacturing facilities Construction or capital project environments Experience managing projects valued at $1M or greater Strong financial acumen including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control Familiarity with structured project management methodologies (PMI/PMBOK) Ability to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear facility (background screening, fitness for duty requirements)
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting power plants, utilities, or energy infrastructure projects Engineering or construction-related degree Experience with tools such as SAP, Oracle Unifier, MS Project, or Primavera P6 PMP certification or equivalent
Additional Information:
Per diem is offered at standard GSA rates and paid seven days per week for qualifying candidates This role provides exposure to large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects within a collaborative team environment
