We work with companies across manufacturing and industrial supply chains to evaluate, implement, and integrate the adoption of digital, 3D printing and other critical technologies. By leveraging engineering expertise in model-based definition, digital thread, and additive manufacturing along with technical evaluations, technology demonstrations, and hands-on training, CCAT enables companies to accelerate technology adoption and upskill employees to improve productivity and profitability. CCAT is a nonprofit, non-traditional defense contractor and government fiduciary dedicated to advancing applied technologies and strengthening the U.S. industrial base. CCAT partners with federal and state agencies—including the DOW, DOE, NASA, SBA, and USDOC—through government-funded and commercial programs that support both defense and commercial manufacturing.
Position Title:
Project Manager Trainer (Independent Contractor)
Position Summary :
Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology (CCAT) seeks to engage a qualified independent contractor to deliver Project Management for Supply Chain Manufacturers training as part of its workforce development initiatives with a large OEM client. This is a contract-based instructional engagement and is not a full-time employment position. The selected contractor will provide training delivery, participant support, assignment review, and instructional facilitation services for multiple training cohorts focused on strengthening project management capabilities across the manufacturing industrial base. This part time role is ideal for someone who has demonstrated manufacturing and teaching experience and enjoys teaching, has strong communication skills, and brings practical project management experience to the classroom. The trainer will deliver both virtual and in-person sessions, with advance notice provided for all scheduled classes. This position is remote, but the person will need to travel occasionally once a month to conduct training onsite. Travel would be in the U.S. The program is designed to support small and medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) serving the defense and maritime sectors by improving project execution, risk management, supplier coordination, scheduling discipline, and operational effectiveness, especially with a focus on quality improvement and technology projects at manufacturers. The Contractor shall provide instructional and facilitation services for CCAT's Project Management Training Program, including both virtual and in-person delivery components. What you'll do: Deliver instructor-led project management training sessions Facilitate engaging adult-learning experiences Review and prepare instructional materials prior to each cohort Support participant learning through discussion, Q&A, and practical application exercises Review participant self-study assignments and capstone submissions Provide written feedback and satisfactory completion evaluations Support consistent training quality and learner engagement across cohorts Coordinate with CCAT staff regarding scheduling, logistics, and participant support

Work Environment and Travel Expectations:
This is a primarily remote role with occasional in-person training required. Most onsite sessions will be held at CCAT's East Hartford facility, with up to four additional U.S. (primarily New England) travel assignments. Travel expenses for travel cohorts will be reimbursed per CCAT policy. This is an independent contractor role; the individual is responsible for their own taxes and is not eligible for CCAT employee benefits. Engagement is expected to begin in 2026 and continue through completion of the 2027 cohort schedule, subject to program needs, funding, demand, and contractor performance.
Compensation:
Contractor compensation is structured on a per-cohort basis , meaning the contractor is paid a fixed amount for each assigned cohort, covering all instructional delivery, preparation, grading, and participant support activities. CCAT anticipates delivering 10+ cohorts over the next 24 months with schedules coordinated in advance.
Each cohort is expected to:
