Knoxville Role Overview We are working with a specialised geotechnical and construction materials consultancy seeking a Senior Project Manager to play a pivotal, hybrid role across project delivery, lab operations, resource planning, and team leadership . Key Responsibilities Project & Resource Management Participate in weekly resource planning sessions , aligning project demands with available staff and capabilities Coordinate closely with a small PM group to balance workloads, timelines, and personnel allocation Ensure projects are appropriately staffed and executed efficiently across field and lab operations Lab Management & Quality Support oversight of the materials testing laboratory , ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with standards Drive quality assurance and consistency across all testing and reporting deliverables Partner with the Lab Manager, providing guidance, mentorship, and operational support Client Engagement Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with clients across public and private sectors Act as a responsive, reliable technical resource , reinforcing long‑term partnerships Deliver a high level of service aligned with a relationship‑focused, non‑corporate approach Team Leadership & Development Mentor and support technical staff, helping develop skills, confidence, and career direction Contribute to a culture where individuals can identify their strengths and shape their own career paths Engage in discussions around long‑term progression, leadership, and potential ownership opportunities Technical Focus Areas Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field and laboratory testing oversight (soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates) QA/QC processes and compliance Geotechnical Project Support Coordination between geotechnical engineering and materials testing functions Field investigation and construction phase support Laboratory Operations Workflow optimisation, reporting accuracy, and standards compliance Team capability development within lab environments Public & Private Infrastructure Projects Municipal, transportation, and commercial developments Projects requiring integrated field, lab, and engineering coordination Required Qualifications 10-15 years of experience in Construction Materials Testing, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field Strong background in CMT and/or geotechnical project delivery Proven ability to manage projects, people, and resources effectively Experience participating in or leading resource planning and team coordination Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to operate effectively in a hands‑on, collaborative environment Preferred Experience Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred but not essential with strong CMT background) Experience with materials testing lab operations, QA/QC, or lab management Background in mentoring or training technical staff Experience working in mid‑sized or regional engineering/CMT firms Comfort contributing to business growth through client relationships and reputation Why Join Visible Impact in a Small, High‑Trust Team Work in a setting where you are known, valued, and relied upon , not one of many layers in a large organisation.
