- A Brief Overview
- Leads a team of project management professionals to ensure the delivery of Avera wide programs and projects.
The Portfolio Manager is responsible to work with senior leaders, management and staff in all departments across the system to oversee project commencement, prioritization, and execution. This includes project resource planning; continuous monitoring and reporting on project, program and portfolio status; manage cross project dependencies; alignment of projects to organizational priorities and strategic roadmap, including the assessment and understanding of the budget and resource impacts. The role of Manager provides leadership, oversight, decision-support for programs and projects within the portfolio. A successful leader partners with stakeholders to analyze, redefine, and monitor activities to ensure maximum efficiency in formulating and implementing projects that deliver on the intended business outcomes and meet Avera's strategy and goals, as well as obtaining feedback to ensure the project efforts meet customer expectations for time, cost and performance.
- What you will do
- + Develops efficiencies across all Organizational Excellence functions through creation of reporting practices, capacity management framework, and other cross-functional department needs.
Partners with leaders across all Avera business units to work through high level project issues and escalations. + Partners with high project volume stakeholder groups to develop and manage efficiencies and communications within their programs. + Collaborates with Organizational Excellence teams, primarily Intake & Prioritization, Project Delivery, and other senior leaders or executives on the priorities and performance of the portfolio. + Provides leadership, oversight, and technical direction to Project Consultants and Program Managers of the Organizational Excellence team. + Collaborates with Organizational Excellence leadership team to develop and implement department strategy. Oversees and is accountable for the successful completion of team's projects and initiatives. + Develops and manages metrics and other key performance indicators for department programs and portfolios. + Demonstrate excellent communication skills and experience with the ability to influence all levels of the organization including, senior and executive level leaders, operational and IT leaders, vendors and project team members through verbal, written, formal presentations, reports, and ability to adapt communications, style, and meetings as appropriate for each stakeholder level. + Ability to lead multiple team members in complex and large-scale system wide projects with complex scope or impact while also successfully managing concurrent medium complex projects with minimal oversight or disruption to stakeholders. + Manage and mentor others in the project management methodology including: project scope, developing work breakdown structures, managing project schedules, resources, and risk, complex communication and stakeholder management. + Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
- + 4-6 years experience as a Senior or Lead Project Manager, Program Manager or Senior Principal Project Manager.
+ 10+ years OR experience directing work and overseeing project managers, or multiple complex scale projects/programs requiring interaction and involvement of senior leaders in the organization. + 1-3 years Experience leading multiple teams and incorporating value to the organization through the application of the PMBOK® framework.
Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:
