Job Description

Design Coordinator / Drafting Assistant Cabinets by Shane is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Design Coordinator / Drafting Assistant to support our sales, design, and project management teams. This role combines administrative coordination, drafting support, project tracking, and field assistance to ensure projects move smoothly from initial inquiry through installation. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a willingness to learn the custom cabinetry industry. Experience with drafting software, construction drawings, or cabinetry design is preferred but not required. Primary Responsibilities Office & Project Coordination Send contracts to clients and update the Sales and Design Boards once contracts are executed. Attend informational meetings and document all relevant project details. Upload meeting notes and project information to company file systems for team access. Schedule design meetings as requested by clients and team members. Monitor project email correspondence and save critical information, including specifications, revisions, selections, and approvals. Maintain and update company calendars with new sales opportunities, project schedules, and installation dates. Ensure installation schedules are consistent across Google Calendar and project management software. Maintain sales tracking boards and update new inquiries as they are received. Gather and organize project information, including house plans, design specifications, budgets, and installation timelines. Maintain design boards and update project statuses as milestones are completed. Collect and organize information needed for upcoming projects. Document and communicate any missing information that may impact project progress. Drafting & Design Support Create preliminary cabinet and room layout drawings. Draw walls, openings, and project layouts as directed. Assist with cabinet placement and drafting tasks assigned by the design team. Complete revisions and drawing edits as requested. Coordinate cabinet, finish, and material samples, including ordering, tracking, scheduling delivery, and pickup. Gather and organize hardware specifications and information required for purchasing. Field & Site Assistance Attend site visits and jobsite meetings as assigned. Assist with collecting field measurements for cabinetry projects.
Measure and document:
Wall dimensions Window and door locations Ceiling heights Window heights and elevations Plumbing locations Toilet centerlines Other construction details required for design and installation Qualifications Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication. Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and project management software. Experience with drafting software such as Mozaik, Cabinet Vision, AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar is preferred. Ability to read and interpret architectural plans and construction documents is a plus. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for site visits.
