W. Harden & Associates, Inc. (RWH&A) is seeking a talented and motivated hydrogeologist with 5 to 10 + years' experience for full-time employment in Austin, Texas and who has a desire to excel in a leadership role with an opportunity for advancement into partnership within RWH&A. Since 1972, RWH&A has been solely owned and operated through a partnership of geologists and engineers who take an active role in all projects while faithfully adhering to the firm's principles of integrity, determination, and the importance of delivering expertise with value to clients' challenges. RWH&A excels in providing hydrogeologic consulting services relating to the evaluation of aquifer systems and the effective and efficient development of groundwater resources . We are seeking to grow our team by adding a qualified experienced leader in the field of hydrogeology who is proficient in groundwater modeling and project management with exceptional interpersonal skills and can foster a strong rapport with RWH&A staff, clients, field and engineering teams, and individuals at every level of the organization and has a desire to work in a small office environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to apply their knowledge to a diversity of real world hydrogeologic issues. Responsibilities Lead the development and calibration of groundwater models using advanced software such as Petra, MODFLOW, or similar tools to analyze aquifer behavior and predict future conditions. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating teams of geoscientists, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of high-quality results. Conduct comprehensive scientific research related to hydrogeology, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation to support project objectives. Utilize GIS platforms like ArcGIS and AutoCAD for spatial analysis, mapping, and visualization of groundwater systems and related infrastructure. Prepare detailed technical reports, research papers, and project documentation that clearly communicate findings to clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams. Oversee field activities such as data collection from wells, aquifer testing, and site inspections while ensuring safety standards are maintained. Apply mechanical knowledge and construction understanding to evaluate well design, installation processes, and system integration within groundwater projects. Use programming languages like Python or MATLAB for data analysis, model automation, or custom tool development to enhance project efficiency. Requirements MS or MA in Civil Engineering, Hydrogeology, Geology, or a closely related field with an emphasis on groundwater hydrology and/or groundwater modeling. 5 to 10+ years of hydrogeologic investigation experience and reporting. Proficiency with the MODFLOW family of groundwater modeling codes. Proficiency with ESRI software and Microsoft® products. Experience with computer programming (such as Python, .Net, R, or other similar language) for data analyses and model development. Possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience in project management and business development. Experience mentoring entry-level and junior level staff. Expert witness testimony experience. Experience working with regulatory and state agencies and permitting requirements. Professional Geoscientist (P.G.) and/or Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure. Demonstrated experience in scientific research related to hydrogeology or groundwater systems with a strong foundation in data analysis skills. Proficiency in GIS software such as ArcGIS and AutoCAD for spatial data management and visualization. Mechanical knowledge relevant to well construction, pump systems, or related infrastructure is highly desirable. Hands-on experience with groundwater modeling software including Petra or MODFLOW; familiarity with model calibration and validation processes. Strong technical writing skills for preparing comprehensive reports, research papers, and project proposals. Knowledge of data collection techniques involving well sampling, aquifer testing, and water level monitoring. Experience managing multidisciplinary projects within drilling or construction consulting settings. Programming skills in Python or MATLAB for data processing or model automation are preferred.
Pay:
$75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
