Full Job Description Summary:
The Project Controls Specialist is an independent member of the Project Controls Team providing any of the following as assigned: project setup, financial impact analysis, pricing and costing analysis, process improvement, project leadership, cost control functions, data automation, and summarization, financial forecasting, strategic planning, goal tracking, and ad hoc reporting. All of the above is done in support of the Field Operations of Ontivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Create, track, monitor, and report the progress of projects from start to finish to ensure that Project Managers are performing within budget limitations while also meeting key deadlines. Maintain financial forecasts for weekly invoicing projections in collaboration with Project Managers. Coordinate and facilitate meetings with internal team members on a regular basis to review the financial status of projects and address pending action items as needed. Maintain a detailed project list, tracking progress and key performance indicators associated with initiatives within the department including backlog, unsupported revenue, and underbilling's. Assist in preparing for and finalizing the monthly construction work-in-progress file used to review the financial performance of the company as well as individual customers and project managers. Provide special project support to the VP/GM, executive team, and operations department that is specifically related to financial impact analysis. Assist the accounting department in resolving vendor purchase order discrepancies to ensure invoices are processed and paid in a timely manner. Monitor accounts receivable for assigned project managers to ensure invoices are approved and scheduled to be paid on time based on the customer's terms. Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information particularly when resolving urgent issues that require coordination with other departments and/or upper management. Participate in ad hoc analysis and reporting, formulating recommendations based on conclusions formed from analyzing project managers portfolios and identifying trends. Perform capital expenditure studies to determine the financial impact of owning equipment as compared to leasing equipment. Obtain an in-depth understanding of business functions and processes within the company with the goal of evolving current and future processes. Act as a mentor to less experienced or new team members pertaining to project controls and financial principles. Other duties as assigned. Occasionally required to lift or move up to 25 pounds Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing, and participate in a random testing program Position requires working in a professional office atmosphere Must possess valid driver's license and may be required to drive company vehicles
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience in wireless, telecommunications, construction, and/or public utility is preferred Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite applications including Word, PowerPoint, and Access Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Excel and data analysis functions Proficiency in QuickBase software suite (or other relational database applications) Strong analytical skills Detail-oriented and thorough Ability to work on multiple projects and effectively manage priorities Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams Familiarity with the percentage of completion revenue recognition method and WIP process General understanding of accounting concepts and practices
Supervisory Requirements:
This position has minimal to no supervisory requirements Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some overtime requirements and some schedule flexibility. Travel May be required to travel (10 to 20%) Required Education and Experience High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is required, Bachelor's degree preferred Three years of experience in wireless, telecommunications, construction, and/or public utility is preferred Additional Eligibility Qualifications None required for this position.
