Job Description:
Electrical Project Manager - Data Center Construction Position Overview A leading Texas-based general contractor is seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale mission-critical and data center construction projects. This role will be responsible for managing all electrical aspects of assigned projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with client expectations and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical construction management, extensive experience with complex power and infrastructure systems, and a proven track record delivering data center, mission-critical, or other technically demanding projects. Key Responsibilities Project Leadership & Execution Lead the electrical scope of work from preconstruction through project closeout. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, forecasts, and manpower plans. Coordinate with owners, design consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and internal project teams. Monitor project performance and proactively address schedule, cost, and quality challenges. Ensure electrical work complies with contract requirements, project specifications, and applicable codes. Support project startup activities, including procurement planning, subcontractor onboarding, and scheduling. Financial Management Maintain accountability for electrical project financial performance. Prepare and review budgets, cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections. Evaluate and negotiate change orders, contract modifications, and claims. Track project costs and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency. Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices. Data Center & Mission-Critical Construction Manage electrical systems associated with hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or mission-critical facilities. Coordinate installation and commissioning activities for: Medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems Generators and fuel systems UPS systems and battery backup infrastructure Switchgear and switchboards Bus duct and power distribution equipment Grounding and bonding systems Building automation and monitoring systems Support commissioning teams and participate in integrated systems testing and turnover activities. Ensure critical-path electrical activities are planned and executed to meet aggressive project milestones. Procurement & Subcontractor Management Lead procurement efforts for major electrical equipment and long-lead materials. Review subcontractor scopes of work and support contract negotiations. Manage subcontractor performance, productivity, quality, and safety compliance. Coordinate equipment deliveries and installation sequencing to maintain project schedules. Review shop drawings, submittals, RFIs, and technical documentation. Quality & Safety Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project activities. Ensure compliance with company safety programs, OSHA regulations, and site-specific requirements. Conduct regular quality reviews and inspections to verify work meets project standards. Support issue resolution and corrective action planning when necessary. Client & Stakeholder Management Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, design teams, trade partners, and project stakeholders. Lead project meetings and provide regular updates regarding progress, budget, schedule, and risk management. Identify opportunities for repeat business and future project pursuits. Represent the company professionally in all client-facing interactions. Team Development Mentor project engineers, assistant project managers, and field personnel. Foster collaboration between office and field teams. Support workforce planning and staffing initiatives. Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and best practices within the organization. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; equivalent industry experience may be considered. Minimum 2-3 years of project management experience in electrical construction. Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale data center, mission-critical, industrial, or advanced technology projects. Strong understanding of electrical systems, power distribution, and critical infrastructure environments. Experience managing subcontractors, budgets, schedules, procurement, and project controls. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and technical documentation. Knowledge of NEC requirements and applicable industry standards. Proficiency with project management software, scheduling platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, and construction management systems. Preferred Experience delivering hyperscale or colocation data center projects. Background working with nationally recognized general contractors or electrical contractors. Experience with commissioning and turnover of mission-critical facilities. OSHA 30 certification. PMP, CCM, or similar professional certification. Work Environment Combination of office and active construction site environments. Regular travel to project sites throughout Texas and other project locations as required. Ability to work in demanding construction environments and meet project deadlines.
