Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 144,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas. Summary The Data Analyst will support the Distribution Project Management Office (DPMO) Program Services' efforts to design, create, and maintain databases, applications, and reporting to meet capital program objectives and improve operational outcomes. This position will recommend and coordinate process improvements and provide analytic support via routine and ad hoc reporting for budgetary planning, program management, and the maintenance and construction of the Oncor distribution grid. This position will be responsible for the research, planning, design, and review of necessary applications to track and evaluate the progression of each program. Additionally, the incumbent will develop and maintain database functions, forecasts, and processes in support of strategic planning and process improvement. This role will report to our Downtown Fort Worth office 3-5 days a week. We are considering applicants with multiple experience levels and skills. Data Analyst - Key Roles & Responsibilities Work indirectly through senior team members, program managers, and other organizational teams to develop processes and support operational improvements. Continuously apply industry standards to database designs to enhance daily tracking applications for Distribution Programs such as Targeted Maintenance, Pole Maintenance, and Underground Cable, as well as new initiatives. Design and manage dashboards to monitor and analyze Distribution Project Management Office (PMO) system processes, including offsite work related to new loads, system capacity, and open wire secondary. Design processes to enhance Distribution PMO reporting through automation and SharePoint applications. Design and generate reports by performing data mining, analysis, and transformation of data from asset, financial, reliability, and work management systems. Design reports to analyze relationships between data across Distribution systems such as Work Management, Outage Management System (OMS), and financial systems. Design reports to monitor and analyze Distribution work orders, crew resources, materials, and other operational data. Perform analysis to assess data quality and meaning; clean, validate, and restructure data as required. Coordinate with various work groups to investigate variances, data discrepancies, and reporting inconsistencies. Evaluate existing reports, tools, systems, and applications to identify opportunities for improvement and enhance tracking capabilities. Promote best practices by continuously evaluating methods, techniques, and software used to support project tracking and reporting needs within Distribution Operations. Respond to internal and external requests regarding database development, reporting, and support. Maintain user confidence by responding to change requests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with safety standards. Develop and maintain documentation associated with reporting processes, systems, and applications. Occasionally work after normal working hours to support system operations and reporting needs. Perform all the essential aspects and functions of the role, along with other assigned responsibilities. Senior Data Analyst - Key Roles & Responsibilities (In addition to above) Proactively monitors project data to identify and report time, cost, and quality issues. Provides business analytics with project metric data within assigned programs. Maintains aggregate performance data for internal reporting. Conducts resource tracking and project variance updates (partially implied in #2 but not directly stated). Adapts to and works effectively in a variety of situations and with diverse individuals or groups. Learns new methods, techniques, and software as needed. Develops, manages, and recommends changes to database design (broader/general vs. #2's more specific design tasks). Supports technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data (more general than #2's reporting focus). Skills Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access skills. Proficient with relational databases (Oracle, Structured Query Language Server (SQL Server)), Database Management Systems (DBMSs), and querying languages. Knowledge of business intelligence, database/business analytics, and data visualization software such as Cognos, Power BI, or Tableau. Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, JavaScript) and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes is preferred. Knowledge of and experience with one or more of the following internal systems is preferred: Distribution Information System (AEGIS), Maximo, Work Management Information System (WMIS), Outage Management System (OMS), FIM, and Customer Care and Billing (CC&B). Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated organizational skills. Education and Experience High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
Data Analyst Level:
Requires 2+ years of relevant experience in project management or analytical roles, including system data analysis, computer information systems, or similar analytical work is required.
Senior Data Analyst Level:
Requires 3+ years of relevant experience in project management or analytical roles, including system data analysis, computer information systems, or similar analytical work is required.
Senior Data Analyst Level:
Data mining and analytics experience in database environments is encouraged to apply. Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information science, or an analytical/statistical discipline is encouraged to apply. Measures of Success Accurate and timely data reporting.
