Why you'll love this job This job is a member of the Airline Operations Technology (AOT) organization within the Information Technology Division This role serves as the Transformation lead for the VP of Airline Operations Technology, acting as a strategic partner and force multiplier to drive execution, organizational alignment, and visibility across a complex, multi‑product portfolio. This rotational leadership role is designed to develop future senior leaders through enterprise exposure, people leadership, and ownership of high‑impact initiatives. A key focus of this role is enabling data‑driven decision making across AOT by owning the strategy, delivery, and evolution of enterprise metrics, dashboards, and executive reporting distributed across the organization What you'll do As noted above, this list is intended to reflect the current job but there may be additional essential functions (and certainly non-essential job functions) that are not referenced. Act ​as a trusted ​advisor and strategic partner to ​the ​VP ​of Airline ​Operations Technology on ​priorities, execution, ​and organizational effectiveness Lead and ​deliver ​high ​visibility, VP level initiatives and special ​projects spanning multiple products and ​organizations Lead and ​evolve leadership operating rhythms, ​including staff meetings, QBRs, ​reviews, and planning forums Enable ​data-driven ​decision ​making by defining, governing, ​and evolving enterprise ​technology and delivery metrics Develop ​executive-ready ​communications, ​briefings, and presentations for senior leadership audiences Promote adoption of ​modern engineering practices, emerging technologies, and ​continuous ​improvement Manage ​budgets, forecasting, ​and resource ​allocation in alignment with business and technology ​priorities Partner with IT ​and business ​leadership to execute ​and communicate the ​organization's technology ​vision, ​priorities, and ​roadmap All you'll need for success Minimum Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience Bachelor's degree in Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience/training 7+ years of experience leading complex technology solutions, programs, or engineering delivery Strong backrgound in leading engineering teams using modern software practices Preferred Qualifications- Education & Prior Job Experience 3+ years of direct people leadership experience Airline industry or large-scale operational technology experience 5+ years of experience leading product, engineering, or technology teams Skills, Licenses & Certifications Exceptional communication skills ​with ​the ​ability to translate complex technical ​concepts, risks, ​and constraints for executive and nontechnical audiences Prior hands-on ​experience as a ​software, ​platform, ​or systems ​engineer with ​the ​ability to lead ​deep technical discussions, reviews, and ​architecture decisions Demonstrated ​technical leadership ​with ​the ​ability to make sound architecture and ​design ​tradeoff decisions grounded in engineering ​best practices Demonstrated comfort operating in ​ambiguity, including ​problem definition, ​requirements shaping, ​and iterative solution design Strong business and financial acumen, ​including alignment ​of product and platform decisions ​to strategic, ​operational, and capacity ​outcomes What you'll get Feel free to take advantage of all that American Airlines has to offer:
