Project Manager | Ground Up Retail Construction $110,000 - $120,000 base salary aligned with experience, plus benefits, long term progression opportunities, and genuine career development Blayze Group is partnered with a respected Houston based General Contractor that is looking to appoint a Project Manager for a strong pipeline of ground up retail and commercial projects across Texas. The company delivers projects typically ranging from $1M to $15M, with a strong focus on ground up retail, commercial, and select renovation work. This is a great opportunity for a Project Manager who wants autonomy, leadership visibility, and a clear route to progress as the business continues to grow. The Role
  • Manage the full lifecycle of ground up retail and commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout
  • Oversee projects typically ranging from $1M to $15M in value
  • Lead ground up retail, commercial, small box, multi site, and related construction projects
  • Manage tenant improvement and renovation scopes where they form part of a wider ground up or commercial project portfolio
  • Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, vendors, and field teams throughout project delivery
  • Maintain project schedules, budgets, procurement logs, cost reporting, and project documentation
  • Lead client and owner meetings while maintaining clear communication across all stakeholders
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, submittals, RFIs, and change orders to support accurate project execution
  • Support subcontractor buyout, scope review, pricing, change management, and risk mitigation
  • Work closely with Superintendents to maintain quality, safety, schedule performance, and field productivity
  • Build strong client relationships and support repeat business through consistent delivery
  • Manage multiple active projects where required, depending on size, complexity, and workload Background Sought
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience within commercial construction
  • Ground up commercial or retail construction experience is required
  • Experience delivering projects between $1M and $15M is highly desirable
  • Retail construction experience is strongly preferred, particularly ground up retail delivery
  • Experience with tenant improvement or renovation work is beneficial, but must be supported by ground up project experience
  • Strong understanding of sitework, foundations, structure, envelope, MEP coordination, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and contract administration
  • Experience working for a General Contractor is strongly preferred
  • Comfortable managing projects from preconstruction through final completion
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in a deadline driven construction environment
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem solving skills
  • Stable career history with reputable commercial contractors preferred
