Job Description

In this role, you will be responsible for managing commercial switchgear projects from award through completion — including order entry, material procurement, ship schedules, delivery logistics, and billing. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and manufacturer representative agencies on all post-sale project activities. The ideal candidate has experience in electrical distribution or the commercial construction channel, understands how switchgear projects move from purchase order through material release, and can manage a high volume of concurrent projects while maintaining accuracy, communication, and urgency. This position works closely with quotation specialists, administrative staff, salespeople, and vendor manufacturers to ensure projects are executed on time and to the customer's expectations.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the full post-sale lifecycle of commercial gear projects, from receipt of the purchase order through final billing and closeout Process and enter orders accurately in ERP and job management systems, ensuring pricing, products, quantities, and terms align with the awarded quotation Coordinate with manufacturers on order acknowledgments, lead times, production status, and shipment scheduling Monitor and communicate ship schedules to customers, proactively identifying and resolving potential delays before they impact project timelines Coordinate material deliveries, staging requirements, and phased release schedules based on customer construction timelines Manage project billing — ensuring invoicing aligns with material shipments and customer purchase order terms Communicate regularly with customers to provide project status updates, resolve issues, and manage expectations throughout the project lifecycle Track manufacturers' lead times, backorders, and substitution needs, keeping customers informed and offering alternatives when necessary Identify and escalate warranty claims, damaged shipments, and discrepancies, coordinating resolution with manufacturer reps and internal teams Maintain organized and accurate project documentation within job management and ERP systems Collaborate with quotation specialists to ensure smooth handoffs from won bids into project execution, verifying scope accuracy and flagging potential issues early Serve as a knowledgeable resource on switchgear products and project coordination within the branch
QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years of experience in project management within electrical distribution, switchgear, or the commercial construction channel Direct industry experience is strongly preferred Familiarity with the post-sale project lifecycle in electrical distribution — order entry, procurement, material release, delivery scheduling, and billing Working knowledge of switchgear products and manufacturers, particularly with Schneider Electric and Square D is preferred Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and construction specifications sufficiently to verify order accuracy and coordinate submittals Experience with ERP systems, job management Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to manage relationships across customers, manufacturer reps, and internal teams simultaneously Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high volume of concurrent projects at various stages of execution Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in order processing, documentation, and billing Bachelor's degree in a business, technical, or construction-related field preferred but not required, with equivalent experience
